New 2008 IBD/TIPP Poll – Most Accurate Poll 2004

Obama 45%, McCain 43%, Undecided 13%

Investor’s Business Daily PollConservative Policy Arena

Check this out! The election is not over conservatives. Let’s vow to fight this out for the next three weeks and send John McCain the the White House where he belongs. The tide is turning and there is still time for the GOP to take the lead against the Democrats and their unqualified nominee.

The Obama Nation Inevitability

The Silent Majority will have the Final Say

The Conservative Policy Arena

The mainstream media template is clear; Obama will win the 2008 presidential election. It’s inevitable according to them and everything is falling into place – so goes the conventional wisdom. The polls are showing a large lead for Barack Obama. The economy or at least the markets are in chaos which only fuels the Obama ascendency. ACORN is registering thousands of voters illegally (allegedly) and is preparing to steal the election if need be. Why should this be necessary if Obama is in such a commanding lead? And wasn’t it Democrats who last cried foul about elections being stolen from them? Campaign money by the millions is being poured into the Obama campaign, some of it fraudulently (allegedly). I sometimes feel the inexorable pull of the nation toward Obama as if it’s something tangible that you can sense. The nation sliding ever closer to the liberal abyss.

But then I regain my senses and I realize that it is the American people who must either let it happen or keep it from happening. There is a silent majority still out there that will weigh all the information available to them as election day approaches. Not all voters will do the indepth due diligence. However, the American people as a whole can be trusted to make good decisions. En masse we are infallible in the long run. And so I will trust in the American people and divine Providence to steer us through this election. Have faith in this and work hard for victory and we cannot be denied!

HUD: 5 million fraudulent mortgages for Illegal Immigrants

We should have defended the borders

Conservative Policy Arena

Drudge has an article link where HUD is revealing the estimate of 5 million fraudulent mortgages that have been obtained by illegal immigrants over the last several years. If this early report turns out to be true, it will be another revelation in the deepening financial crisis of where we went wrong. Conservatives have been on the right side of these issues all along. Reform Fannie and Freddie – Democrats blocked! Defend the borders – Democrats blocked! The laundry list of bills coming due for our reticence to be guided by the rule of law in this country is increasing every day. The insanity has got to stop. Even Republicans cannot wash their hands of responsibility in all of this but it will be American taxpayers that will have to foot the bill for increased crime rates, bailing out Fannie and Freddie, suffering through a 40% decline in the stock market, increased health care costs, etc. Our negligence as a nation and our unwillingness to see what stares us in the face is incomprehensible. It will take us many years to develop answers to problems that face us now. Let us begin work on the Herculean tasks which confront us!

Paulson’s Bailout Plan Bad for Taxpayers

We must rely on Market Forces

Secretary Paulson is trying to help but he is so immersed in Wall Street think that he cannot look at the situation with clear eyes. Poorly managed firms must be allowed to fail to clean out the system of toxic business entities. There are many investment houses and banks who have not made poor choices and endangered themselves. The government would be best advised to help the well managed firms weather the stormy seas and revise regulations that actually brought on the current crisis. The government that cannot even balance its own budget is trying to determine what is best for Wall Street and taxpayers. This whole mess turns accountability on its head. Please email your elected officials to tell them to say “NO” to the Paulson Plan.

Obama breaks trust with the Hard Left

Seeks to delay Iraq troop withdrawals

Obama Seeks to Stall Iraq Troop Withdrawal

Obama has betrayed the left-wing. He constantly supports Iraq troop withdrawals in public appearances, but on his visit to Iraq earlier this summer he forcefully requested a delay from Iraqi leaders. No doubt this was done so that he could continue to bash the President and John McCain all through the fall in order to get himself elected President. Not only has he betrayed his constituency, but he has proven himself unworthy of the job he now seeks by this hubristic act.

House GOP; Keep Fighting the Good Fight!

Pelosi turns out lights on "all of the above" Energy Plan

http://www.seriousmayhem.com

House Republicans are taking the fight to Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats at the time of this writing. Pelosi has turned out the lights, turned off microphones and C-SPAN but Republicans are staying to discuss our serious energy problems anyway. Democrats refuse to drill for oil, build nuclear plants or anything else that makes sense. Democrats only want to punish speculators and use up our strategic oil reserves. That’s not a plan, that’s stupidity. Republicans care about the American people and the high prices they are paying for gasoline and diesel.

Kudos to the House Republicans! Keep up the Fight!

Americans: I encourage you to contact your members of Congress and the President about your sincere desire to fix our energy woes. Ask the President to call Congress back from recess!

Benjamin Netanyahu calls for Israeli Elections

Wanted: decisive leader

Serious Mayhem: A Conservative Policy Arena

After learning only yesterday that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will be resigning his leadership post, today we learn that the top opposition leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, is calling for new elections. Olmert is under intense scrutiny and facing charges of corrupton. This growing storm has finally taken its toll and forced him not to seek his Kadima party’s nomination. Kadima intends to pick a new leader and intall him as prime minister. Netanyahu feels that a new general election should take place in order to possibly pick a whole new government and leadership. While Netanyahu is enjoying increased popularity since his days as prime minister in the 1990′s and his Likud party is likely to win such an election it seems to be a good idea to push for new elections. The logic being that Kadima has bumbled the last war showing Israel to be weak and has failed to produce any kind of meaningfulpeace agreement with Palestinians. Benjamin Netanyahu is exactly what the Israeli nation needs at this moment of Mid-East Crisis. Usually the ongoing crisis is with the Palestinians, but now a larger danger looms over Israel. Netanyahu is a strong leader who will rebuild Israeli defenses and meet head on that challenges that Iran presents. This is no time for Israel to be defensively weak and indecisive. Iran poses a grave threat to Israeli security with their persistence in obtaining and developing nuclear weapons. Though Iran denies this nuclear program, it is quite apparent that they are enriching uranium beyond its usefulness in purely industrial applications. In addition, Iranian leaders regularly issue threats about the annihilation of Israel. New Israeli elections would be a good idea and a second incarnation of Benjamin Netanyahu’s prime ministership would be the best result for the nation of Israel.

The Hubris of Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats

"None of the above" on Energy Policy

Serious Mayhem: A Conservative Policy Arena

Yesterday the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats bailed on the American people in refusing to commit to any new energy policies. Our leaders have left Washington for a long summer break while the American people suffer with high gas and diesel prices. Not a single Republican voted to close House business without an energy plan for America’s success. This effort nearly forced Democrats to deal with the stalemate. The GOP was in lock step behind Minority Leader Boehner and his “all of the above” energy plan which includes drilling for oil, building nuclear facilities, alternative fuels, wind, solar, etc. Democrats flat out refused to cooperate with any of this. Instead, Nancy Pelosi kept calling on the President to exhaust all of his policy options. The president has already visited Saudi Arabia and asked them to produce more oil and he has rescinded the executive order that banned offshore drilling. The fact is Saudi Arabia won’t budge (or can’t budge) until we get serious about exploring our own reserves. Additionally, since the president struck down the executive ban on offshore drilling, Congress is the only roadblock left. So what can the President do if Congress is held hostage by a left-wing extremist? Answer: Not much that he hasn’t done already. But Americans can do something about it. Americans can rise up and contact their elected officials and bitterly complain about Congress’ lack of action on energy policy. And if that fails, Americans can vote in to office a bunch of new congressional leaders in November 2008. Nancy Pelosi’s “None of the above” energy strategy is not a strategy at all and the dirty little secret is that it is based on her extremist view that we are polluting the Earth. While average Americans suffer, our congressional leaders are committed to some moonbat liberal ideology that will eventually be exposed for what it is: pollution.

P.S. Have fun on your whirlwind booktour Mrs. Speaker!

Wincing While Winning

The Democrat Strategy

Serious Mayhem

It makes no sense to me. I wasn’t raised to think like the blame-America-first crowd. It’s not an entirely comparable situation, but when Clinton decided to send troops into former Yugoslavia in the 1990′s I supported the idea. I didn’t entirely like the fact that we were sending American boys into a brutal civil war, but I could understand what tore at the president’s heart. Seeing all those pictures of raped women and the bloody aftermath of the violence made me understand why Clinton would put our troops in harm’s way. And I wanted to see him (Clinton) and our boys succeed in curbing the worst abuses in that country. America’s troops aren’t trained to be peacekeepers but I didn’t fault the president’s intentions or his concern for humanity. You root for your team.

That’s why no matter how opposed to this war democrats are, I find it inconceivable that they can continuously root against our strategies for success in Iraq, i.e. the surge. Once the surge became a success I expected that we would hear from democrats that they were relieved, or that they were optimistic about our ability to pull out a victory even if it was a war they didn’t want to fight. But it WAS a war they voted to fight. Yes, Congress voted to authorize the use of force lest we forget. Now Barack Obama sets the tone for his whole party as its chosen leader when he conspicuously refuses to offer up even the slightest recognition or praise for the successes of our military strategy in Iraq.
