Sign of the times

Last November, shortly after the election, someone in my town in northern Indiana put up a big white handpainted sign demanding, “Impeach Obama Pelosi & Reid NOW!”  (It appears I can’t post the photos here, but you can see them in my original post.)  The sign stayed up a week or two, and then came down.

Until Harry Reid got his cloture vote.  The day after Sens. Specter, Snowe and Collins agreed to support the so-called “stimulus” bill, the sign went back up.  I’m still not a believer in criminal sanctions for policy decisions (even really bad policy decisions), but I think this shows something rather important:  when Charles Schumer declares that “the American people really don’t care” about “those little, tiny . . . porky amendments,” he’s talking through his hat.  They–we–do care.  I think William Jacobson is right:  ”the politics in this country is like a simmering pot,” and every time something like this happens, the pot gets a little closer to boiling over.

Our job is to spoil the broth.

We need to stop the Dimwits in further destroying the economy and the country.

We must work double time and…. FIGHT!

Actually, our job is to fix the broth.

It will be hard when they veto our spice choices and insist that dirt from the backyard will work just fine in place of boullion (never mind actually boiling the chicken bones–PETA would have a fit), but we need to do our best.

I hear yah.

I agree, coz later, we’ll have no choice but to join them in tasting the main dish.

(What? Two opposing statements, and then, I say ‘I agree’? Well, with the Rise of Uh-bumm–ah, it’s really possible now for two guys to speak of the same perspective in different dimensions.)

At least on the viewpoint of a pragmatist, we agree and meet on the same thing… the broth, he he.

Cheers.
