Scope, when you say "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am ashamed of my country!", I sincerely hope you are joking.

Let's be blunt about this. The American people didn't screw up, we did.

When I was 19 and cast my first vote for Ronald Reagan, I was so proud to be a conservative Republican. I'm still proud to be a conservative but the last few years, not so proud of being a Republican.

We have to admit we [expletive deleted]ed up before we can begin to set things right.

This election has left me devastated emotionally on several fronts. I really want to just roll over and suck on the gubmint teet like the rest of 'em. But that doesn't leave a future for my kids.

As I was driving my kids to various activities this afternoon, I was talking to them about what God does to the lukewarm. They got the picture.
Let the purge begin.

Please don't get into that remorse mode. Voters bought whatever was more appealing to them. Republicans failed to sell their brand of policies. Don't blame your consumer. Remember free market???

Tell me when was the last time somebody from the GOP leadership defended the war in Iraq? Ask any 10 folks randomly and I bet you will hear the Iraq war was a blunder. When did republicans tie the mortgage meltdown to Jimmy carter and Clintons? Ask any 10 folks randomly and I am willing to bet most will blame President Bush. Do you expect President to defend himself??? Really? If the party can't defend their President then they deserve to lose(either its indefensible or communication is poor).

And somebody please drive this through... bipartisanship is NOT good. You do whatever is right irrespective of the support. I am tired of this word. Seems more like compromise and backroom deals.

52 years old and I think it is long past time to either ask or, if we have to, push these old "reach across the isle" dinosaurs out of the way.

Look at who had the most trouble getting elected. Right her in Minnesota Norm Coleman hasn't won against Al Franken.

I want to see people like Gov. Palen, Rep. Bachmann and Rep. Kline in there, both of them won big in their districts, even after national news went after Bachmann, she still won by 5%. This is in liberal Minnesota.

For the sake of the party, we need good articulate, principled, telegenic, candidates. We should be concentrating on getting 435 candidates to run for congress and 100 good candidates for Senate and start grooming them now.

There's more to it than that -- but the comity, compromise, and surrender model has failed for the last time.

No more compromise.

I've promised not to write my feelings in much detail until I consult more with absentee, but let me preview for you guys: in the wake if this epic disaster, there better be a new wind blowing at RedState, or this place will dry up like a raisin while the conservative opposition coalesces and marches into the war to save our nation without you.

"Liberty is to faction what air is to fire, an aliment without which it instantly expires", (John Madison- Federalist Papers #10). Bi-partisanship merely for the sake of bi-partisanship is a masochistic and painful fetish. It must be excised from our elected Republicans' psyches. The Democrats always insist on us being bi-partisan, but they seldom ever practice it themselves. Having differences and fighting for unwatered down conservative causes is GOOD. Being proud and unapologetic for being conservative is what most of our leaders have seemed to lose. We will win again if we elect leaders that understand this or force the ones that are there to have a comin' to Jesus moment. If we can't accomplish this, we'll wonder in the desert for 40 more years.

For R's to compete in the future and win, we have to do a better job of attracting Latino and African American voters.

Ironically, one of the outcomes of the Obama victory may be that there is a feeling of the battle being won on the racial front and there may be an opportunity to appeal to people on an ideological basis - not just a racial basis.

95% of the African American community voted for Obama & 2/3's of the Latino community - I simply don't believe the percentages are anywhere near those levels on a ideological basis.

Jason Chaffetz (UT) should be a good new voice in the party. He won his first term last night. I have already written him, pleading him to stand up for conservative principles while in congress. I have every reason to believe he will do so.

I second the nomination of Jeff Sessions. Shelby is a pretty solid conservative, but Sessions is stronger and more willing to speak out.

Sessions was just re-elected, so he has the longer-term prospect, too (not that it has made any noticeable difference in his stand on issues).
