You, Mr. President, can force the Democrats to either vote on energy legislation or not.
Mr. President, members of your party are on the floor of the House of Representatives in the dark as we write this because the Speaker of the House turned off the lights on them and skipped town. The Republicans are fighting to reduce the price of gasoline at the pump. They are fighting for American families. Democrats have turned their backs on the American people.
Normally Mr. President, the American people are better served when Congress is not in session. At this time, however, you should call the Democrats’ bluff. Recall the Congress to Washington to vote on expanding domestic oil production.

We all know about it but we were already active and involved. The MSM is not going to report on this because, after all, it was just a few R’s with no one leading them who protested. I mean if their leader is not willing to stand with them why report it. The MSM, though could not ignore a Presidential Address to the nation calling for a special session to address the energy crisis, that is affecting our pocket books as individuals and our economic viability as a Nation.

The D’s control the congress and will expand that control. Obama has a legit shot at a win in Nov. Iraq may be funded – for now – but GWB’s feckless refusal to defend the rationale for and conduct of the war has effectively taken further military action in the region (Iran) off the table. I’m not sure we can effectively react to the situation in Afghanistan.
We’re not winning. All GWB’s done is fight a war of attrition on Iraq. He’s caved on everything else – see the mortgage bailout where he provided absolutely no leadership or even conversation. BTW, nobody wins a war of attrition. You win by getting on the offense, but GWB wouldn’t want to offend Nancy or Harry or Murtha or Durbin, good patriotic Americans all.

When it came to political combat with the Democrats and their friends in the Press and communicating with the American people Bush has been a disappointment these past seven years.
You need to acknowledge that, GC – Bush is not perfect, or even close to it. Most of us knew he was no Reagan back in 2000 – but I doubt anyone believed he would be quite this bad. And the problem is that it is for a lack of trying.
That’s why we need to turn some heat on him. even if just to make it clear to his future Republican successors that we expect better, much better, on the politics and communications front.
