Whose Responsible This?

America is in a meltdown.

After the housing bubble burst, leaving us in a heap of crap, it seems that both the Bush administration and the Obama administration took steps to make a bad situation worse. Funnelling hundreds of billions of  dollars into a ‘stimulus’ that wasn’t was only the first step down the path to ‘WTF?’. After that it was Cash for Clunkers, Stimulus II, Health Care Reform, Cap and Trade, the oil spill, and now Financial Industry reform….. all answered by still more and more government involvement, government intrusion, and government takeovers.

These guys in DC are obviously either mentally ill, or they are doing it on purpose. (The second does not preclude the first)

As of this second, we are $13,112,107,708,778 in debt. That’s $42,351 per citizen, or 118,706 per taxpayer. Our GDP, or what we MAKE in terms of goods or services, is $14,424,041,055,720. Our gross debt to GDP ratio is 90.90%

For you and me, that would be like having a $140,000 home, a $60,000 job, and having a debt of roughly $184,000. Could you dig yourself out of that? Ever?

But wait, there’s more. We have entitlements. God, do we have entitlements. Our social security liability is $14.4 trillion, the prescription drug liability is $19 trillion, and the medicare liability is $75.8 trillion – giving us a total of $109.29 trillion of entitlement liabilities, or $353,026 per citizen. Oh, and the dark lining behind this silver cloud: It’s gonna get worse.

In 2010, so far, we’ve had 1.419 million bankruptcies, and 869,929 foreclosures. We’ve imported 287 billion barrels of oil, 115 billion from OPEC. Bailouts from the government are currently at $5.055 trillion. And to make it even more interesting, we are paying $196 billion just in INTEREST on the debt.

I ask again, “WHOSE RESPONSBLE THIS????

Who has taken a merely bad situation and flushed the rest of the economy down the tubes with it? Who has made boneheaded decisions and policies – time after time after time after time again? WHO? Someone needs to kick their asses!

It’s easy to sit back and say “I inherited this”. It’s the standard political cop out. “Eight years of Bush and see what happened????” Well, Mr President, that dog don’t hunt no more. This is squarely YOUR problem now.

Who kept pushing for Stimulus when WE THE PEOPLE were against the idea? You.

Who kept pushing health care reform when WE THE PEOPLE were against it? You.

Who kept out the foreign ships from the gulf when we needed their help? You.

Who kept people from building sand berms to stop the oil from reaching our coastlines? You.

Who is suing the state of Arizona for daring to have a law that mirrors existing federal statutes that aren’t currently enforced by the feds? You.

Who sent PetroBras 2 billion dollars to do deep water drilling in Brazil? You.

Who created massive unemployment by trying to shut down the offshore oil drilling industry? You.

Who is forcing oil platforms to MOVE AWAY from the US to places where they can actually drill and pump oil? You.

I’d stop blaming Bush if I were you. (Even Bonzo the wonder iguana is having trouble believing you with this line.)

Then again, I’m not mentally ill. And I’m not aiming to destroy the country either. Which are you, Mr. President?

AND ANOTHER THING: JOHN MCCAIN…

Senator McCain….. I’ve been hearing your political commercials here in Phoenix. You are filled with hubris if you dare to think, let alone say, that YOU, personally, are Arizona’s ‘last line of defense’. You are a representative of the state of Arizona, nothing more, nothing less.

And a sorry one you have been.

You voted for the 680 billion dollar bailout. You championed the McCain-Feingold assault on the first amendment. You backed the amnesty plan for illegal aliens. And you DARE to call yourself a ‘conservative’ in an election year? A conservative from where exactly? SAN FRANCISCO?

I don’t know what’s going to happen in this upcoming election cycle, but anyone with that much conceit and self-aggrandisement should NOT be a senator. If J.D. doesn’t defeat you in the primary, I hope the democrat wins in November – at least he won’t be a ‘senior’ senator and can’t do too much damage until we kick his ass out in 2016. Senator, YOU have become a danger to this country, a danger we simply can not afford.

If you had fought for the presidency with the rhethoric and comparison ads you are making with J.D., you’d be president today. But apparently, you keep your venom in reserve to only fight candidates that are more conservative than you are.

Senator… It’s time you were educated. WE THE PEOPLE are the last line of defense for Arizona. And I hope we ‘splain that to you in the next election cycle.

AND YET ANOTHER THING: J.D. HAYWORTH

Boy, you screwed up with that infomercial. But you did something good. You admitted the mistake and apologized. Good job, brother. Everyone screws the pooch on occasion. The wise man learns and moves forward.

Now, stop playing McCain’s game. You will lose. Play YOUR game: the game you played on the radio airwaves. Get out there with simple direct messages about your policies and plans and IGNORE the competition. No fancy violins and french horns, just you and a mike and your message.

I’m the Technomage, and I approve this message.

September 2008 will be remembered as the time when Socialism really, really took hold in this country

September 2008 will be remembered as the time when Socialism really, really took hold in this country.

http://swordattheready.wordpress.com/2008/09/20/levin-where-the-blame-truly-lies-in-the-financial-meltdown-this-past-week/

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

McCain's no prize, but

JD’s not even up to second rate idiot.

A Congressional career highlighted by trampling people so he could be made a fool of in front of Fox cameras on a routine basis.

A career that so pissed of the CD05 voters that they voted for Mitchell because he was “nicer” than Hayworth.

A career marked by never finding a problem that couldn’t be solved by a government program or an earmark he wouldn’t support.

As far as his radio program, it was low rated in Phoenix and he couldn’t get a syndication deal even with a nationally well known name. And gee, would you like the hours of blathering about Obama’s birth certificate hauled out?

Note that the latest polling, while not necessarily definitive is certainly directional, has McCain up by 23 – 52/29.

The worse news for Hayworth is the Favorable/Unfavorable numbers. Statewide McCain is 60/37 F/U, Hayworth is 30/50. In Maricopa County (home of CD05) M = 61/36, H = 39/52. Oh, it gets worse. You can expect about 70% of primary voters will be 55+. In that group it’s M = 56/42 Men & 67/29 Women, H = 42/51 Men & 30/55 Women. It’s even worst with 65+.

McCain could have been at least seriously challenged by either Shadegg or Flake and they would have had a better than even shot of winning. Hayworth is a loser and will live up to that in a big way. Arizona really doesn’t need to replace a maverick with a bottom feeding slug who will make Babs Boxer look like a genius.

Oh and, it's "who's" not "whose"... nt

National Review backs McCain over JD

chihank Monday, June 28th at 11:16AM EST (link)

National Review decided to endorse McCain over JD.

The editors said McCain is no Marco Rubio, but he’s no Arlen Specter either.

That's Only Going To Push More People Into JD's Camp

IJB Monday, June 28th at 11:31AM EST (link)

The only thing that would work even better for JD is for “The Weekly Standard” to endorse McCain… :/

The mis-spelling would have been ignored had you not....

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Sunday, June 27th at 6:32PM EST (link)

said you want the Democrat to win if McCain wins the primary. You are at the WRONG site with that kind of traitorous talk. McCain is one of my LEAST favorite people in the whole world but if he wins the primary (which btw is where Conservatives get their shot) he MUST take out the Democrat because I would rather have an idiot who will caucus with the Republicans on law then a Socialist who will caucus with the Democrats at taking away OUR FREEDOM!

Better an enemy than a fickle friend

technomage (Diary) Sunday, June 27th at 7:12PM EST (link)

What do you call a so-called friend who turns on you, betrays you, and actively works to revoke your first amendment rights so you can’t even criticize their works? I call them ‘traitors’.

I abide no traitors in the midst of the republican party. Not any more, and never again.

We’ve seen where the ‘fickle friend’ approach has gotten us. That’s WHY we are here now.

No more fakers. Never again.

I met people at the latest TEA Party who did NOT vote for McCain they didn’t vote at all and I explained to them they are too BLAME for this nightmare WE are living under. I am sure your purity helps you sleep at night while the Country is under TOTAL control by Democrats. Those who chose your route not only didn’t vote for McCain by staying home they didn’t vote for a Congressional candidate either thereby handing the keys to joint to the people who HATE US MOST! I am sure you all are proud but that makes me SICK.

Of course, the main reason we are where we are is due to DEMOCRATS

Mike gamecock DeVine (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 5:40AM EST (link)

Democrats propose the socialist laws in the first place and their super majorities vote in near unanimity for them, yet you want to blame a few weak Republicans for the mess? Come on man, be a real conservative and not just another brand of Utopian. We are stuck with instrumentalities called human beings that are not PURE. Even Rubio caved on the AZ law and he isn’t elected yet.

Please help us keep the message clear with what Americans see: Democrats own the mess.

Life is about choices between imperfect options.

"Whose responsible this?" mis-spelling

technomage (Diary) Sunday, June 27th at 7:07PM EST (link)

Yes it is. But the “Whose Responsible This” is deliberate. It’s a current internet meme, but with far far more serious content :)

In point of fact, your content is not serious.

mbecker908 (Diary) Tuesday, June 29th at 1:16AM EST (link)

It’s mental masturbation. JD will not even come within shouting distance.

If you want to make a contribution to the conservative cause – and JD Hayworth is in no way a conservative – then focus on the three House seats we’ve got a good shot at retaking.

Leadership.

I may agree with some points that you are attempting to make, but you went off the rails when you talk of supporting a Dem.

This ain’t the site for you.

Technomage, love the name (big fan of B5)

In terms of substance, all RINOs are not created equal. Even conservatives like Paul Ryan voted for TARP. I won’t shed a tear if McCain loses, but JD really is made of the same mold as McCain. Both men are blow hards, and I saw enough of JD on Hardball with Chris Matthews in the 90s to know that JD was really auditioning for the Lindsey Graham spot with McCain.

Arizona deserves better than either of them, but no democrat would be better.

My rules of the road for primary season.
Rule #1: Vote for YOUR first choice in the primaries
Rule #2: Vote for the R in the general.
Rule #3: Don’t let anyone convince you to violate Rule #1 or Rule #2
Rule #4: When in a center-right argument, reaffirm Rules #1-#3–it will help us all to get along better.
Rule #5: If you are using the language of the left, you probably aren’t furthering conservativism
Rule #6: The priority is issues first, candidates second, and supporters third. Nobody is bigger than the issues. Conversely, if you spend your time focusing on supporters, you are wasting everyone’s time.

STOP THE MADNESS!

A reduction in the rate of spending increases is NOT a cut!
In-state tuition for illegals is NOT amnesty!
Requiring someone to pay their medical bills is NOT an individual mandate!
Reducing tax rates is NOT a tax increase!

JD not capable

beau Tuesday, June 29th at 12:46AM EST (link)

JD Hayworth is not capable of representing Arizona in an intelligent, moral and fiscally conservative manner. The negative aspects you paint of McCain are far outnumbered by JD’s faults. JD is not intelligent enough, experienced enough or moral enough to hold such a seat in Congress.

Sorry you all feel this way, I call em like I see em

technomage (Diary) Tuesday, June 29th at 2:22AM EST (link)

And, had McCain not attempted… no, had he not CHAMPIONED the assault against free political speech, the PRECISE speech that the first amendment was designed to protect, I’d have a much different opinion.

For without the first amendment, we lose EVERYTHING that is absolutely required to support a republic. Without political free speech, all we are left with is the government running the political presses. Without political free speech, the game is over because of the simple axiom of “He who controls the information can control the population”

I’m not sorry that I support the wide application of the first amendment in the realm of political speech. Because, as I said in my very first post here, it’s liberty by the numbers. You take away the first, and we will have no choice but to move to the second.

I’m not sorry that I am willing to kick a R out because of a traitorous act. I say that word VERY deliberately, for McCain took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States – then goes and attacks the first right enumerated in the Bill Of Rights – the right that allows us to have a open debate – both here on redstate and out in the other world too.

Our rights, our republic, and our very core philosophies are more important than ANY single man, whether it be McCain, Obama, Washington or even Reagan.

What would you think if an “R” decided to repeal parts of the second amendment? Or the fifth? Or the tenth? Would that “R” still be better than a “D”? No. They are the SAME THING – statists.

And to those who think redstate isn’t for me. Ain’t the first amendment just grand? It allows all of us to express our political opinions without fear of censure or retribution. Even those of us who are willing to take a hit to protect what we believe is more important than John McCain’s senatorial bid :)

As an aside, I know JD personally – I even consider him a friend – a friend I haven’t seen in a while since he’s thrown his hat into the ring. He is much more intelligent that most here seem to give him credit for. Don’t believe me? Go talk to him in person – he’s very approachable. :) Tell him the Technomage sent you. :)

Washington said it best...

technomage (Diary) Tuesday, June 29th at 11:12AM EST (link)

… in a speech to the Officers of the Army, in March 1783:

If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences that can invite the consideration of mankind, reason is of no use; the freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.
