Tuck tail and run

SSDD...

By haystack

CNN is helping set the stage for the Democrats to stand up as the quitters they are, only THIS time Iraqi Soldiers must be declared beaten before the battle is over. Nothing new here, folks...move along now. Two days is enough time to determine that wherever there is resistance from an enemy, the "good guys" need to Tuck Tail and Run™.

The Iraqi military push into the southern city of Basra is not going as well as American officials had hoped, despite President Bush's high praise for the operation, several U.S. officials said Friday.

A closely held U.S. military intelligence analysis of the fighting in Basra shows that Iraqi security forces control less than a quarter of the city, according to officials in both the United States and Iraq, and Basra's police units are deeply infiltrated by members of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army.

"This is going to go on for a while," one U.S. military official said.

"Go on for a while" is all the Democrat Media Wing needs to hear; stiff resistance = fight is lost.

Re-tooled and re-armed by his stick buddy, Ahmadinejad, Mookie is hunkering his sorry fat butt down in a Mosque somewhere while his thugs and minions are executing what appears to be phase III of a proclaimed "civil disobedience" against the Iraqi government. Civil disobedience, apparently, translates into "armed insurrection" over in Iraq...imagine the spray paint-toting hippies down on Constitution Ave. performing this kind of civil disobedience, AK-47 and IED in hand...where do you think THAT would go in a matter of HOURS instead of days?

Posted at 12:34pm on Mar. 26, 2008 Visions Of Phased Withdrawal Dancing In Democrat Heads

By haystack

It comes in many forms. There's "phased withdrawal" or "responsible troop redeployment" (a Pelosi fave) or "phased redeployment" or "refocus America's efforts on the wider struggle yet to be won."

Each has a nice ring, to whichever ear seeks to hear such pretty words wrapped around the ambition to look for surrender wherever and whenever an extra vote or campaign dollar can be mustered. None say, specifically, what the intention is, nor do they describe what the net result will be once the Tuck Tail and Run Doctrine™ has been enacted.

In fairness, I have to admit to laughing out loud when I read this Scrappleface blog entry:

Sources close to al Qaeda and CNN now say that the terror organization has begun high-level internal discussions designed to redefine “victory” in Iraq as “phased redeployment.”

“Stay the course is not a strategy,” said an unnamed al Qaeda official based in Iran. “Victory is not a strategy. We’re losing the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people, not to mention other assorted body parts.”

The change in tone among al Qaeda leaders comes in the wake of recent secret elections which saw moderates and progressives sweep to power and take leadership of key committees.

Clearly a play on words, that post intends to show how silly the Democrats are making themselves sound...solely of the the belief it will win them control of the country. But...an oft-used professional trainer expression is "learning moment" and just such an opportunity has befallen Democrats with news of Sadr's Militias rising up against Iraq and US forces:

Phased withdrawal from Iraq before it is time is proving to be a BAD idea.

Our pre-surge strategy struggled (and in many areas failed) because we didn't hold positions we had regained control of. England's departure from Basra, as some Brit lawmakers unsuccessfully tried to warn against, and a couple months of re-arming and regrouping by Sadr and his lunatics has shown the folly of leaving before the country is able to secure itself. Even the Brits themselves are having second thoughts about the wisdom of capitulating to the thronging masses of protestors on the streets of England..what say you, Democrats?

Posted at 10:16am on Mar. 26, 2008 Democrat Counter-Offer: 100 Years Of Capitulation

as opposed to 100 years of war...apparently

By haystack

[Via Politico, we have the forming of the Dem strategy for beating McCain in November:

John McCain is scheduled to deliver a major foreign policy speech Wednesday in Los Angeles, one with a heavy Iraq focus, but chances are Democrats won’t be listening. They’ve already distilled his views into an easy to remember formulation: 100 years of war.

It is a reference to an offhand remark made by McCain in January about the possible duration of the U.S. presence in Iraq, a comment that Democrats now portray as the equivalent of the McCain Doctrine.

McCain Doctrine...hunh. Has a sorta nice ring to it, dontchathink? I certainly like it better than the Obama Doctrine...the Obamatrine...of "Tuck Tail and Run."

Citing Obama's remarks on the 5th Anniversary of our presence in Iraq, Politico suggests the "real" hammer the Democrats will likely be swinging appears to something more like 100 years of capitulation:

Instead of offering an exit strategy for Iraq, he’s offering us a 100 year occupation.

Exit strategy is a great buzz word, and Occupation gets all the new generation of hippies chanting something incoherent about Attica, but as McCain reminded us in the REAL quote, we're 60 years running with a presence in Japan and Germany...50 in Korea...how is Iraq (long-term) different? Oh, that's right-there are still bad guys in Iraq with guns and explosives. We need to get the heck outta Dodge until there are no more bad guys. Why on earth would we have Soldiers doing the work of Soldiers where there is currently a need for...Soldiers?

When will we hear Barry and Hill demand an exit strategy in these places? September? October?

More below the fold..
