Broward Republican Party – July Meeting Recap

THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT MEETING LAST NIGHT FEATURING STATE SENATOR ELLYN BOGDANOFF

WE HAD OVER 300 IN ATTENDANCE!

25 NEW MEMBERS LAST NIGHT!  – 86 SO FAR THIS YEAR!

THERE IS NO MEETING IN AUGUST

SEE YOU AT PRESIDENCY 5 September 22-25th and AT OUR NEXT MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 26th!  FEATURING STATE REP. GEORGE MORAITIS

My Fellow Broward Republicans and friends,

We’ve had a great year so far with some wonderful events and meetings.  At our BREC meetings we’ve heard from some great candidates for the US Senate. We’ve heard from two of our own members at the last meeting who are running for the US Congress – Karen Harrington and Joe Kaufman! We’ve heard from many candidates for local races as well as local and former Republican officeholders.

Together, in the last seven months, we have netted over $100K for the party in fundraising from our Lincoln Day and Grand Old Party BBQ. The BBQ was the first of what we hope will be many party building events in different parts of the county, so stay tuned. We didn’t even expect to raise any money from the BBQ, but we netted about $13,000. Thank you to our sponsors and thanks once again for everyone who has supported us as we prepare for 2012.

Our Presidency 5 efforts have also been successful, and I’ve heard that we are the largest or close to the largest delegations so far – we’ve got some more slots available, so let us know by August 14th if you are still interested!

We’ve had some wonderful charity drives this year, and I want to thank Heather Moraitis, the wife of State Representative George Moraitis, for organizing them every month. We’ve collected for local charities, Marines in Afghanistan, and will continue to show that Republicans care.

With all of these events and activities we are getting many new people involved in the Broward Republican Party.  Twenty-Five new members were read on to the committee last night, making a total of 86 new members since January!

You’ve often heard me talk about the importance of fundraising. It’s important because we have to do all we can to be prepared for 2012. As I said at the last meeting, President Obama will likely have $1 BILLION dollars for his reelection. We need to raise funds for our get out the vote campaigns, to do mailings, to give money to candidates, to have victory offices, and to win. So once again thank you for your support.

We are moving into a new phase of the campaign cycle here – it’s time to get organized - it’s time to start working our precincts and energizing your Republican friends and neighbors. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

We’re going to start have precinct training classes after Labor Day, and we need everyone to get involved.

The BREC is participating in a statewide effort to register new Republicans in advance of the 2012 elections. This is one of Governor Scott’s primary initiatives and it’s very important. One statistic I’ll share with you is that about 40% of churchgoers are not registered to vote. We are formulating our registration committee plan for Broward, and if you are interesting in being a part of this committee, let me know.

We have some other active committees that you can get involved in: Registration Committee; Campaign Logistics Committee; Hispanic Leadership Council; Faith Based Committee; African American Leadership Council; Fundraising Committee; Jewish Outreach Committee

If you have any ideas for a new committee, please let us know!

If you are a Republican in Broward you have a lot to inspire you to work hard to get Republicans elected in 2012!

On the bad side, right here in Broward, we’ve got the Chair of the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Right here in Broward, we’ve got the corrupt all-Democrat School Board that a statewide grand jury found has wasted hundreds of millions of your taxpayers’ dollars while doing the bidding of a select group of lobbyists and contractors.   We’ve got tons of other corrupt Democrats right here in Broward to inspire you to get active.

On the good side, we’ve got the one and only Congressman Allen West, a national figure from right here in Broward County who needs your help to get reelected. He’s going to be our featured speaker in October. We’ve got the RNC Co-Chair, our very own Sharon Day! We’ve got our other wonderful Republican officeholders – many of whom are running for reelection next year and need your help.

I’m proud of the good work we’ve been doing here in Broward, and I’m especially proud of all of you – our grassroots volunteers. Our Republican officeholders and candidates are very fortunate to have all of you to help them out next year, and I love seeing everyone come out to our monthly meetings.  We are truly fortunate to have a great TEAM BROWARD.

Now is the time to get active. Now is the time to get organized.

Now is the time to get ready to send President Obama packing back to Chicago, to beat Senator Nelson, to end the corruption here in Broward, and to get Republicans elected!

All the best,

Richard DeNapoli, Chairman
