Gineen Bresso announces Congressional bid against DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Following a week of musical chairs where Congressman Allen West announced his intent to move north into a proposed 18th Congressional District while former House Majority Leader Adam Hasner departed the Republican primary race to unseat Democratic incumbent Senator Bill Nelson and run for West’s vacant Congressional seat, yet another race faces a challenge.

Former presidential appointee and elections attorney, Gineen Bresso, is set to announce Monday her candidacy to represent Florida’s 20th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Bresso, 39, is challenging Democratic National Committee Chair and incumbent Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

“I am prepared to work to restore fiscal responsibility, remove barriers to economic growth, and take the voice of the people to Washington D.C,” stated Bresso.  “Currently, the nation is facing significant troubles with a debt in excess of $15 Trillion and a staggering $1.1 Trillion deficit.”

Bresso was nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S Senate on October 2, 2008 to serve on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC).

In 2009, Bresso served as Chair of the EAC.  In contemplation of a Congressional run, she resigned recently after asking President Barack Obama to withdraw his nomination of her to serve a second term.

Prior to her appointment to the EAC, Bresso served as the Director of Legislative Operations and Counsel for the Committee on House Administration in the U.S Congress. Previously, she served as a policy advisor to former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., and worked as an attorney-advisor for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she reviewed and processed applications for federal trademark registration.

Bresso has also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Arrie W. Davis, in the Maryland Court of Special Appeals.

Bresso received her Juris Doctor from Western New England College School of Law in 1999 and her Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1995.

“Even with a late entry into an already crowded field, thanks to her vast governmental experience, Bresso immediately becomes a top contender,” stated Tom Lauder of RedBroward.  “Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has never faced such an impressive group of GOP candidates.  She’s in for the political fight of her life.”

Bresso faces Ozzie Defaria, Juan Eliel Garcia, Joe Goldner, Karen Harrington, and Joe Kaufman in an August Republican primary.

“It’s time to govern responsibly and lead the nation to a more prosperous future,” concluded Bresso.

Allen West Questions Florida Legislators’ Motives

By Javier Manjarres

Unfortunately, some of my friends have jumped the shark in their efforts to protect Representative Will Weatherford, who is also the Redistricting Chairman in the Florida Legislature, and happens to have been singled out as the sole villain regarding the ‘Screw Allen West’ campaign.

Fellow Florida blogger Sarah Rumpf unfortunately jumped blindly into this chess game, but she was not privy to the specific information as to the real dealings behind the scandal in Tallahassee regarding redistricting and its changes to Allen West’s congressional district.  I pointed out to Sarah that she was out of the loop and her league with regards to this issue, and in her efforts to defend Weatherford, she only made him look worse.

Here’s the original Shark Tank post that started it all-Weatherford Confirms Redistricting Will Leave Allen West’s Congressional Seat Vulnerable

Weatherford has been peppered with criticism about his specific involvement in the scandal, as Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin have both seriously chastised his involvement.  While I defended Weatherford from those who tried to pin all of the blame in this matter on him, he was nonetheless a member of the redistricting committee that collectively are deserving of blame.

Rush Limbaugh’s rant against Weatherford and the Florida Legislature can be found here, with a linkto the Shark Tank

Allen West is not only an individual of the utmost integrity, he is also a very meticulous congressman.  West will not corroborate any assertion written in a newspaper, blog or other source without him knowing first hand or having sufficient corroborating facts to form an opinion or for him to believe what is either being said or written.

In a television interview on CBS, West questioned the possible motives of the existing term-limited state legislators.

“No one’s gonna lay a trap for me.” -Allen West

Florida State Representative Scott Plakon: “Rush Limbaugh is Wrong”

I continue to be shocked and dismayed how far too many people seem willing to latch on to conspiracy theories and make meritless accusations against fellow Republicans. Worse, these accusations continue even when clear evidence to the contrary is presented. Such is the case with the furor over Florida's redistricting. Let me say this for the millionth time: There is no conspiracy in the Florida Legislature to hurt Allen West, and Mitt Romney doesn't have a darn thing to do with our redistricting process. I wrote two posts earlier this week, the first explaining why rumors of a Romney-based conspiracy against Allen West were utter nonsense, and the second detailing a very elegant deal between Republican candidates to leapfrog districts in a way that gives more conservatives a strong chance at election.

Why is the GOP Florida Legislature Trying to Screw Allen West?

As an outspoken black conservative with a high national profile, Allen West already had a huge national target painted on his back going in to 2012. As part of reapportionment as a result of the 2010 census, Florida gained 2 Congressional seats. Despite that, it appears that the Republican-controlled Florida legislature seems to have somehow managed to make Allen West’s seat much more difficult to defend. Via Shark Tank:

Over the past several weeks, many Republicans have voiced their disappointment towards the Republican legislature after the release of the preliminary redistricting maps. Much of the ire concerns the proposed boundaries of Congressman Allen West’s 22nd Congressional District that would be redrawn to include far more registered Democrats.

West’s congressional district inexplicably sheds the most out support as compared to all other incumbent Republican and Democrat Congressman. A few weeks back we quoted an unnamed legislator saying that, “Allen West was screwed”, a statement which was originally made about made five months before the purposed maps were made public, leading insiders to believe that the fix was in against Allen West. But in light of Weatherford’s comment, it is increasingly clear that this is a fait accompli.

According to Weatherford, those preliminary maps will not change- at the most, any additional changes would be minimal, and those changes would not make any appreciable difference from the preliminary maps. In addition, Weatherford stated that a deal was struck between him, Senate President Mike Haridopolos, and Senator Don Gaetz to finalize these maps and push them through as soon as possible. Weatherford also said that the proposed maps are in legal compliance with both the Voting Rights Act and Amendment 6.

So based on Weatherford’s comments, the 22nd Congressional District is now very much in play for the Democrat Party, and West is at an even larger disadvantage than he was previously- it will be a very difficult and expensive seat for Republicans to defend.

The Florida Senate passed their plan on January 17th and the Florida House passed theirs on Friday. I am not really sure what, if any, distinctions exist between the plans with respect to FL-22 (West’s district). At this point the maps will be subjected to legal review for compliance with the Voting Rights Act and Amendment 6.

If you live in Florida and are a fan of Allen West, now might be a good time to call your state Representative and Senator to let them know how you feel about any action that would harm his chances of re-election in the fall.

Winner of “Pick Romney’s VP” Contest

Re-posted from PJMedia

Florida Senator Marco Rubio with 24 votes.

In second place was Florida Congressman Allen West with 19 votes.

Third was Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell with 10 votes.

Then, Former Ambassador John Bolton and Former Secretary of State Condi Rice were tied at 9 votes each.

Thanks to everyone who participated resulting in over 200 comments. Please note that only clearly-stated votes were counted. In comments where two or more potential VP’s were offered, only the first-named was accepted.

As mentioned in the original posting these results will be reported to the Romney campaign.

Now for my vote on Romney’s VP with some editorializing on the poll results.

Back in early November, I wrote this piece about why the selection of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell was a “done deal” as Romney’s running mate.

Well, perhaps I exaggerated just a tad about the “done deal” part but, for all the reasons stated, I still believe McDonnell is Romney’s wisest choice.

Then, at a Christmas party I spoke to former Virginia Senator George Allen who is running this year to win back his old Senate seat. He told me he REALLY liked the idea of McDonnell for VP although Allen made a point of saying he has not endorsed Romney.

(Note: McDonnell as VP would practically ensure that Allen would win back his Senate seat but you have to read the piece for all the interesting background and national consequences of what will possibly be an epic Virginia battleground matchup of Obama/Kaine vs. Romney/McDonnell/Allen to understand the whole picture.)

Since Rubio was the winner of the poll contest, here is my take on him.

Senator Rubio, although a rising star in the Republican Party with a very bright future, is not ready yet to be Vice-President. Senator Rubio has only been in the US Senate since January 2011 and will be 41 years old in May. He needs to marinate awhile on the national stage, earn some stature, and build a record.

(OK, so we all know that Obama did not ‘marinate” but look at the trouble the county is in now as a result.)

Senator Rubio himself believes he needs more time because on numerous occasions he has stated that he will not be on any national ticket in 2012 and wants to focus on being a Senator from Florida.

For more explanation about why I believe Senator Marco Rubio is correct in his public declarations go back and please re-read my PJM piece from March of 2011 entitled “Why Rubio Should Resist 2012 Temptations.”

The second place poll contest winner, Congressman Allen West (FL-22) also is a rising star in the GOP.  Unfortunately West has a brutal battle ahead of him just to hang on to his Congressional seat due to re-districting and his outspoken pronouncements that do not sit well with all the moderate and independent voters in his swing district.  But, if Romney has strong coattails, West will most likely hang on to his seat. If he does manage to lose, and Romney wins, perhaps Romney will have a place for him in his administration. However, a new job as a national radio talk show host might be better suited to his personality.  Watch out Rush Limbaugh!  For more on Allen West and his difficult re-election ahead you can go back and re-read my PJM interview with him from October of 2011.

Finally, although off the VP topic, with the news that Ambassador Jon Huntsman will drop out of the presidential race and support Romney my bet is that Romney, if elected, will ask Huntsman to be his Secretary of State. (Sorry, John Bolton fans!)  Was there a deal? Would Huntsman make a good Secretary of State?

Perhaps that question should be offered up for the next poll contest.

Watch this space!

Piss On ‘Em!

Allen West - Marines Peeing on Taliban

Allen West - Marines Peeing on Taliban

This week  a video came out showing some US Marines ‘peeing’ on dead Taliban fighters and it has created a firestorm of controversy. Rep. Allen West who is a retired Army Lt Colonel with combat experience commented on the video saying…

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Col West hit the nail right on the head! He is a ture American Hero and if we had a country full of people like him we would be much better off.
All these people like Hillary Clinton (who does not like the Hillary Clinton Condemns Marinesmilitary anyway) condemning the Marines are ridiculous to say the least. So it is OK to kill them but ‘peeing’ on them after they are dead is a sin of the highest order.
It is the same ‘pious baloney’ as the Obama administration shows when they try close Quantonimo Bay and give terrorist the rights of US Citizens by bringing them to the United States for civilian trials and at the same time say it is OK to shoot Bin Laden in the head and drone strike a US Citizen. So which is it? Are we at war or not? There is no in-between.
Of course, killing Bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki was the RIGHT thing to do. We are just using it as an example to show the hypocritical thinking of the left. Anwar al-Awlaki gave us his right to US Citizenship when he decided the USA was his enemy.
Here is a link to a great blog post here on Red State if you have not read it about General Patton. If you read it then you might have a better understanding of what it is like to be a soldier. George S. Patton, Jr., At the Rhine River: Yes, Hillary, Peeing on …

From the Diary of George S. Patton, March 24th, 1945:

Drove to the river and went across on the pontoon bridge, stopping in the middle to take a piss in the Rhine, and then pick up some dirt on the far side, in emulation of William the Conqueror.

You cannot expect soldiers to think and act like people who have never been in combat and you should NOT want them to! Especially Marines! Marines are trained to do one thing…kill the enemy! Everyone in this country should thank God we have people like them. They do for us things that 99% of the population would never do. If you have never been in combat you have no idea what it is like and you have no idea how you would react. The ‘rules’ are different in war. They must be.
When I flew jets in the US Navy we used to say, “If you are not cheating you are not trying.” Sometimes I would mention that saying in conversation to people and often get a response like, “Well, that is not a good thing!” No? In air combat if you lose you are dead. Losing is not an option.
A Soldiers close family are the people next to them that they serve with. They have a bond so strong with each other that ‘civilians’ cannot even begin to understand it. Most likely everyone of those Marines in that video have had members of their ‘family’ killed by the Taliban. People like Hillary Clinton might have a totally different view of the situation if someone in her immediate family had been killed by the Taliban.
Again, as Col West said, “As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Broward Young Republicans Fight to Save CD-22

The following is a statement by the Broward County Young Republicans:

The Florida legislature has done a tremendous job proposing new districts for the next decade. Even with a challenging new set of rules to follow, we find their proposals interesting, legal and fair.

We do however take exception to the dismantling of Congressional District 22 in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Broward Republican Party Chairman Richard DeNapoli and Vice Chair Colleen Stolberg recently made the case for saving CD-22.  Broward County Young Republicans echo their concerns and invite our friends in the other party to join us in preserving a truly fair district.

Democrats like to make the District 22 fight all about Allen West because demagoguery is their obsession and fundraising tool. But to Republicans, much more than one man is at stake.  This fight is about voter representation and preserving a community of interest.  We want to ensure all voters in the coastal communities of Broward and Palm Beach counties are fairly represented.  They should have a choice for Congress without stacking the deck in favor of one party.

The areas in question are home to large populations of Republican and Independent voters, yet under current proposals they would likely be represented by a Democrat.  Broward County holds the second most Republican voters in the state, but could soon have zero Republican members of Congress.  Doesn’t that fly in the face of the “Fair Districts” Amendments?

We are convinced that minor changes could make a big difference in District 22. By removing the western dog leg into Plantation and extending the coastal portion of the District, the legislature could strengthen a community of interest while eliminating a partisan bent. This change would also fix the appearance it was gerrymandered to put Allen West within its limits.

District 22 is the only truly fair district in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Preserving it should be important to all Floridians. Instead of pursuing a personal vendetta against a sitting congressman, let’s give voters the right to decide for themselves their best representative.

Obama – The Authentic Saul Alinsky Radical

This is the third article on our Nation’s fallen economy as mentioned before we have what I refer to as a traitor and dictator in the White House. He has refused to honor his Constitutional duties. He took an oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Obama hasn’t preserved, protected or defended our Constitution at any time since he took office in 2009; he has betrayed us.

‎”A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victim, and he wears their face and their garments and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared. The traitor is the plague.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman Orator – 106-43 B.C

Dictator – definitely fits Obama, he rules by coercion and force. His defiance of the laws of our Nation have surfaced starting with the stimulus bill, Obamacare, support of EPA, Unions, Solyndra and other green companies, the Fast and Furious gunrunner operation, the war in Libya, terrorist in Gitmo and most recently downgrading our Military.

Now he wants to punish us more by raising the debt ceiling 1.2 trillion dollars, because his goal is to totally destroy our financial system. What he is doing is treason against Americans and our beautiful America and John Boehner and the “Old Republican Establishment” won’t stand up and fight for our Nation. They’re weak kneed selfish and totally content to rake in their salaries and enjoy their perks.

There are four people that come to mind immediately who are fighting to “take back our Country,” Marco Rubio, Allen West, Steve Wynn and Newt Gingrich.

Marco Rubio wrote a letter to President Obama stating, “Unfortunately, the first three years of your presidency have been a profile in leadership failure.” He further states, “I will oppose your request to continue borrowing and spending recklessly.” Marco realizes Obama is trying to destroy our Nation via excessive spending and he is ready to stand toe to toe with Obama and fight for all Americans.

Allen West’s comments from his facebook notes. President Obama’s comments at the CBC dinner Saturday evening telling the black community to “stop complaining” were disrespectful and reprehensible. With unemployment in the black community at 16.7 percent, food stamp enrollment up, and our national poverty rate at epic proportion, the people have a constitutional right to redress their grievances to the government. If President Obama believes he is above criticism and reproach for his failed economic policies, then he should either change his policies or step down. Regardless, as a Member of the Congressional Black Caucus, I admonish President Barack Hussein Obama to apologize to America for his callous remarks.

Steve Wynn said, “This administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, and progress and job creation in my lifetime,” Wynn said. “The guy [Obama] keeps making speeches about redistribution, and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don’t invest or hold too much money. We haven’t heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists.” Wynn said businesses are frightened to death, because of Obama’s weird political philosophy.

Newt Gingrich said it all at a recent Iowa speech, “President Obama is legitimately and authentically a Saul Alinsky radical.” Obama follows Saul Alinsky’s metholodgy literally letter by letter. He has spent the last three years preparing for the 2012 Presidential Election; now we know what a community organizer does.

He’s been hobnobbing with special interest groups, Unions, volunteers, our youth and even the corner gangs like the Wall Street Protestors. First he sold himself to these groups, including the Hispanics, African Americans and Gays as a person who cares about their health and welfare; after gaining their confidence he engaged the mechanism called class welfare.

Class welfare is used to keep America divided and he will continue building resentment against the wealthy, the Republicans, Bush, God and the tea party organizations and anyone else who does not agree with his ideology. His followers will rue the day they followed this person – if they vote him in for another four years, they will be digging ditches and begging for crumbs. America is broke!

Obama does not want to balance the budget, cut back on any discretionary spending or reduce our National Deficit. He doesn’t want to put America back to work again and he wants businesses to continue to fail. Obama is changing America fundamentally and this change will bring America to her knees.

May God Bless America
As Always,
Little Tboca
