GOP Partisans Draw up Enemies List, Demand Investigations Into Each Named (With Option for More)

Let’s be sure to take note of these names, because… wow.

A group (11) of Republican lawmakers have decided to make an “enemies list” of those they see as somehow disloyal to President Trump, and seek to have those on the list prosecuted.

They even have some really novel ideas of justification for their request.

In the letter that was sent on Wednesday to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and U.S. Attorney John Huber, who was appointed to investigate the GOP’s attack on claims of misconduct by the FBI, this merry band of political partisans have asked for investigations into:

James Comey, Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, Andrew McCabe, FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, Sally Yates, and former acting Deputy Attorney General Dana Boente.

In the letter, they even mentioned that this wasn’t an exhaustive list. They reserved the right to go back and add members of the Justice Department and FBI, at their leisure.

I can agree that some of those needed a closer look.

Hillary Clinton? I don’t think the furtive dreams of “Lock her up!” are going to happen. Trump, himself, said he wanted her left alone, and has only given lip service (or tweet service) to the notion, since.

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch should have been brought in a long time ago, but, again, that’s now on Trump’s DOJ.

The idea that Strzok and Page should be investigated for unpopular opinions is kind of troubling.

The lawmakers also want anyone who signed off on the FISA warrant application on former Trump campaign aide, Carter Page, to be investigated, as well.

This is the equivalent of calling into a tip line to report a suspected crime and having the police knock down your door and subject you to an investigation.

Squirrel wrangler, Rep. Devin Nunes didn’t sign off on the letter, but I suspect that was for a purpose.

The lawmakers note that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes has already told Sessions that FBI and DOJ leaders used the Steele dossier to obtain the warrant on Page, and because the dossier contained unverified and/or false information, they should all be criminally charged.

In the referrals, he lawmakers say they are “especially mindful of the dissimilar degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively.”

Hillary Clinton wasn’t/isn’t the president. I think these sorts of investigations take on added urgency when the person suspected of wrongdoing, or at least of surrounding himself with bad actors, is in a position to dictate national policy, or has the nuclear codes.

I mean, if I can figure that out, why can’t these partisan jackasses?

The lawmakers behind this chicanery are Reps. Ron DeSantis, Dave Bratt, Andy Biggs, Jeff Duncan, Matt Gaetz, Paul A. Gosar, Andy Harris, Jody Hice, Todd Rokita, Claudia Tenney, and Ted S. Yoho.

This smacks of a ridiculous, partisan effort of political payback. Let’s hope it doesn’t catch on.
