Wait… what?
As the Stormy Daniels saga rolls on, the porn star’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, has dropped an intriguing new bread crumb along the trail.
Avenatti appeared with CNN’s Jake Tapper today, to discuss the latest developments.
“Is there anything in the litany of accusations — you would call them facts — that surround this case that happened while Donald Trump was President?” CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Michael Avenatti, Daniels’ lawyer, during an interview Friday.
“Yes,” Avenatti replied.
Now that’s going to require a lot of deconstructing to get to what he meant.
When asked by Tapper if he could elaborate, Avenatti gave a simple “no.”
Not helpful.
So is he suggesting that the affair was ongoing?
I’m going to guess that answer is “no,” and that he was alluding to news given earlier this week that his client has received threats of physical violence (not surprising).
He may also be holding out to stir greater anticipation for his client’s upcoming appearance on “60 Minutes,” something Trump’s legal team is fighting to keep from happening.
“I think that when the American people hear from my client who will provide details — very specific details related to this threat — they will conclude, as I have, that this was not a random threat by some wing nut … out of the blue,” he told Tapper.
I’ll be watching.
