Donald Trump is a loathsome, lecherous, despicable man. His history of adultery and misogyny is well known, and more so by his own words than anything else.
Long before the “Access Hollywood” tape was made public, numerous print interviews, as well as his appearances on the Howard Stern show reveal the corrupt and disgusting character of the man, especially when it comes to women.
That doesn’t mean any woman that gets close to him is having an affair with him.
Some women actually have morals and taste.
And speaking of women with good character, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is firing with both barrels at those who have decided to run with a vicious rumor about the relationship she has with President Trump.
Specifically, “Fire and Fury” author, Michael Wolff, suggested that President Trump was involved in an affair now. While he didn’t name Haley, outright, he dropped those seeds, knowing the internet would run with it.
In his bestselling book “Fire and Fury,” Wolff wrote that Trump had been spending “a notable amount of private time with Haley on Air Force One and was seen to be grooming her for a national political future.”
Wolff also told HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” that he was “absolutely sure” Trump was having an affair, and that readers would hone in on a portion of his book once he had made the suggestion.
It was internet mathematics: 2+2 = pound cake.
Yeah, it doesn’t have to make sense. It’s the internet.
For Haley, it’s not the first time she’s had to deal with such spurious claims.
She notes it’s a problem women given positions of influence and power have to deal with.
She also said she’s never talked once to the president about her future and that she is never alone with Trump.
“So the idea that these things come out, that’s a problem,” she told Politico’s Women Rule podcast.
“But it goes to a bigger issue that we need to always be conscious of: At every point in my life, I’ve noticed that if you speak your mind and you’re strong about it and you say what you believe, there is a small percentage of people that resent that and the way they deal with it is to try and throw arrows, lies or not.”
And let’s be honest: As entertaining as Wolff’s book was, you kind of have to pick through a lot of speculation and “sweetener,” to get details that are legit.
Haley went on:
“I saw this as a legislator. I saw this when I was governor. I see it now. I see them do it to other women,” she said. “And the thing is, when women work, they prioritize, they focus, and they believe if you’re gonna to something, do it right.”
Good words.
Nikki Haley is the jewel of Trump’s administration, and possibly the best pick for any position in his Cabinet.
Any attempts to derail what she’s doing with loose talk only fit for the Jerry Springer Show says more about the ones spreading the rumors than it does about the ambassador, or her work.
