Trump Trashes the FBI, Just Before Giving a Pep Talk to FBI Trainees at Quantico

Leland Yee was arrested Wednesday during a series of raids by the FBI in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area, authorities said. Unbelievable.

Hours before he was to speak before the FBI’s training academy in Quantico, VA, Trump felt it was a good idea to slam them while talking to the press.

Said Trump:

“It’s a shame what’s happened with the FBI. But we’re going to rebuild the FBI; it’ll be bigger and better than ever,” Trump told reporters.

Somehow you just know he borrowed that from “The Six Million Dollar Man.”

I also don’t understand how he intends to remake the FBI when he’s shown nothing but disrespect and disdain for U.S. intelligence agencies, across the board, due to their unanimous belief that Russia meddled in the 2016 election.

Knowing he was going to speak to rising agents and still trashing them on the same day he was supposed to act as their Commander-in-Chief and build up morale is just nuts.

It may appear that Trump has reason for his rancor, given the recent revelations of the handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal, and also news that an agent working with Robert Mueller’s investigatory team had a clear, anti-Trump bias.

Trump said revelations about the FBI’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation and text messages from a top agent that were critical of him were “really, really disgraceful.”

“You have a lot of very angry people who are seeing it,” the president said. “It’s a very sad thing to watch, I will tell you that.”

Yeah. Here’s the thing: both of those incidents involved one guy – Peter Strzok – and when Mueller found out about the texts between Strzok and his mistress, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, he immediately bounced Strzok off of his team.

None of that should count against the work of the FBI.

Trump appeared onstage with FBI Director Christopher Wray, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions an hour later, shoveling it high for those in attendance.

During the speech, the president cast himself as a defender of law enforcement and lauded the bravery of police officers and FBI agents.

“These are great, great people. These are really heroes for all of us,” he said.

“The president of the United States has your back 100 percent,” Trump added. “I will fight for you and I will never, ever let you down. Ever.”

Except for when you’re calling them liars and killing morale by trashing them to any who are willing to listen.

As the Russia probe grinds on, expect Trump to continue to slam the FBI and every other U.S. intelligence agency to the press, while saying words written for him by somebody else to their faces.
