Senator Rand Paul on Attacker: "If Someone Attacks You, Is it Really Justified?" (VIDEO)

We may never know the exact reason for Rene Boucher’s blindside attack on his neighbor, Senator Rand Paul, but we can take a guess.

The registered Democrat maintained a Facebook page full of anti-Trump material, and like the Alexandria ballfield shooter, James T. Hodgkinson, whose partisan delirium resulted in four people being shot – including a seriously injured Rep. Steve Scalise – there’s no excuse for it.

Senator Paul agrees with me. In a Fox News interview, he talked about the events of that day.

“After my ribs were broken, then he said things to me to try to indicate why he was unhappy but I think the, I guess to me the bottom line is it isn’t so important — if someone mugs you is it really justified for any reason?” Paul told Fox News in his first televised interview since the incident.

Nope. It’s not justified, at all.

Paul went on to say that he was mowing his lawn with earmuffs on, so he didn’t hear the maniac approaching him from behind, running at him, downhill.

Seriously. Try to put yourself in Boucher’s mind. The two hadn’t spoken in ten years. He was unprovoked, and he knew Senator Paul could neither see nor hear him. Are there any of us, at least those of us reading this now, who could picture randomly attacking a neighbor we had no interaction with, at a time when that neighbor could not see or hear the attack coming?

I can’t picture doing that to anyone, for any reason.

Paul went on:

“And so I think the more people belabored, ‘Oh well was it about yard clippings, was it because he hates Donald Trump, does he hate you because you oppose Obamacare?’ You don’t really know what’s in someone’s mind and so it may have some relevance, but for the most part the real question should be ‘are you allowed to attack someone from behind in their yard when they’re out mowing their grass?’ ” Paul continued.

No. You’re not.

Suffering through six broken ribs and bruised lungs, Senator Paul returned to work two weeks ago.

The violent nut – Rene Boucher – pleaded not guilty to fourth degree assault charges earlier this month.

Wow. It’s not like it wasn’t broad daylight and his victim didn’t see him, converse with him after the attack, and doesn’t have the medical bills to prove him guilty.

Boucher is back in court on November 30 for the pretrial hearing. He and his equally nutty lawyer maintain it was a feud over “trivial” matters, such as lawn care.

I’ll say it.

I don’t care if Senator Paul backed up a city dump truck on Boucher’s lawn and unloaded a month’s worth of stinky garbage on his front porch. What he did was wrong, and he deserves the full penalty, which could include a year in jail.

Boucher is a menace.
