Making good on the rumors to wage war against Trump’s administration, Breitbart News took aim at their first target Sunday morning – national security adviser H.R. McMaster.
In an interview a week ago, McMaster was questioned about Bannon, but refused to directly answer a question regarding his ability to work with the chief strategist.
Meanwhile, Bannon had been on thin ice for several weeks. He was seen as a source of the multiple leaks from within the White House. What’s more, he is about to see his profile raised with a limited TV series, based on a newly released book about the campaign that focuses on Bannon’s role.
Trump will not take being made to look like second-fiddle in his own administration.
Sunday’s article may be seen as just the first shot from Team Bannon across the bow of the White House, and also indicates Bannon isn’t wasting any time.
The Breitbart article, headlined “H.R. McMaster Endorsed Book That Advocates Quran-Kissing Apology Ceremonies,” claims that the Army lieutenant general threw his support behind a book advising U.S. military personnel to avoid desecrating the Quran, so as not to inflame religious tensions with Muslim populations in countries where American troops are deployed.
It also quotes a blurb for the book that was reportedly authored by McMaster, in which he writes that “terrorist organizations use a narrow and irreligious ideology to recruit undereducated and disenfranchised people to their cause.”
I haven’t read the book, so I can’t say if this is true, or not. It’s a nasty move, however, and the chances are, it’s only going to get worse.
Bannon made a comment after announcing he’d walked from the administration, saying something along the lines of having his hands on his weapons, now.
If they successfully sink McMaster, you can bet “Javanka” will be next.
