TrumpTV – it’s a thing.
For now, it is being confined to Trump’s Facebook page, and consists of live feed videos, broadcast from Trump Tower, in New York.
This weekend, former CNN commentator and insufferable Trump shill, Kayleigh McEnany, was the talking head ladling the horse offal straight into the ears of those watching.
“Thank you for joining us as we provide you the news of the week from Trump Tower here in New York,” McEnany said at the beginning of the segment.
During the video, McEnany touted the recent jobs report.
The economy added 209,000 jobs in July and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent, the Commerce Department reported Friday. Trump hailed the strong numbers last week, saying he had “only just begun.”
“President Trump has clearly steered the economy back in the right direction,” McEnany said in the segment.
“On Wednesday, the president introduced the RAISE act,” she continued. “For decades, a steady rise in immigration has depressed the wages of American workers.”
The legislation, McEnany said, would increase wages, decrease poverty and “save the taxpayers billions.”
“American workers deserve a raise and President Trump is finally putting the American worker first,” she added.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with doing a live feed and making your case to anyone willing to watch. I do that on my own page, occasionally.
The problem is when the president spends half his day slamming the media, then employs others to get in front of a camera to not just tout his record, but to call it “real” news, suggesting anything outside of the echo chamber is illegitimate.
That’s propaganda straight out of North Korea’s playbook. In fact, the backdrop of these videos have the look and feel of professional agitprop, and that’s just freaky.
“Real” news gives everything: the good, the bad, and the inconvenient. That’s not what’s happening here.
Last week, Trump trotted out his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump to be the face of this new age of state-run media.
And it’s all as horrible as you could possibly imagine.
