Scaramucci Quotes Trump as "Expert" on Russian Hacking, but Where Did Trump Get His Info?

While I’m praying there is no truth to this, I’m unnervingly sure that it’s a very real possibility.

While appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper on Sunday, new White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci toed the White House line that casts doubt on Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Scaramucci told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that someone told him that if Moscow hacked the Democratic National Committee, “you would have never seen it. You would have never had any evidence of them, meaning that they’re super-confident in their deception skills and hacking.”

So who was the “expert” on Russian hacking skills that Scaramucci was depending on?

Well, President Trump, himself.

Sort of.

I say “sort of,” because the question then turns to how would Trump know? The president, making anti-intellectualism great again, is known to just regurgitate the last thing he’s seen on TV, read on the internet, or heard. You can bet he didn’t delve into research on the topic.

According to the New York Times, the person who sat Trump down and explained to him that the greatness of Russian hackers would prevent them from being discovered was – Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two presidents had a meeting to the side of the G20 summit that lasted over 2 hours, then a second, previously unreported meeting at dinner, that lasted over an hour.

Our nation’s entire intelligence community, as well as CIA Director Mike Pompeo and Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence agree that Russia meddled in the 2016 election.

“There is no dissent,” Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, said on Friday at the Aspen conference. The Russians, he said, “caught us just a little bit asleep in terms of capabilities” the Kremlin could bring to bear to influence elections here, in France and Germany. The Russians’ goal was clear, he said: “They are trying to undermine Western democracy.”

Maybe a little dissent.

But when Mr. Trump met Mr. Putin in Hamburg, Germany, two weeks ago, he did not utter similar suspicions, at least in public. In fact, he emerged to tell his aides that the Russian president had offered a compelling rejoinder: Moscow’s cyberoperators are so good at covert computer-network operations that if they had dipped into the Democratic National Committee’s systems, they would not have been caught.

You know, because it is the job of the President of the United States to side with a hostile foreign government and murderous strongman against his own intelligence community, the leadership HE put in place, and the integrity of the American voting system.

That is, if it serves his fragile ego, and in this case, it does.

Admitting Russia attempted to influence the election does not take Trump’s win away. In fact, some who voted for Trump did so without knowing about the hacked and leaked DNC emails. They just preferred Trump to Clinton.

What should bother him is that the Russian government preferred him because he is malleable, gullible, inexperienced, and a single-cogged toy in the hands of a master manipulator.

That should bother everybody. Playing dumb about it is not going to make it go away or keep us safe.
