VIDEO: Trump FBI Pick, Wray, Disagrees With Trump About Mueller "Witch Hunt"

President Trump’s pick to replace James Comey as director of the FBI, Christopher Wray, has his Senate confirmation hearing today, and he’s not exactly carrying water for the Trump administration.

As could just about be expected, Russia and the meddling of Russia in the 2016 election took center stage.

Wray was asked about the special investigation being carried out by former FBI director, Robert Mueller by Senator Lindsey Graham.

“I do not consider Director Mueller to be on a witch hunt,” Christopher Wray told Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., during questioning at his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing.

In June, Trump blasted Democratic claims of Russian meddling in the 2016 election as a “phony story.”

“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice,” Trump wrote in a June 15 tweet.

He later added: “You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history — led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA.”

It’s no secret that Trump and his faithful just want the whole Russia probe to go away.

Given the events of the last few days, especially where Trump’s son, Donald Jr. is concerned, it’s not likely to happen. If anything, it just widened scope.

Wray said he would consider “an attempt to tamper with Mueller’s investigation to be unacceptable and inappropriate.”

Wray further went on to say that his knowledge of Russia and any interference in our election is limited to what everyone else knows, at this point. Unlike the president, however, he has “no reason whatsoever to doubt the assessment of the intelligence community.”
