Miracles are going for pretty cheap these days, apparently.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Alabama Senator Luther Strange doesn’t do a lot of Bible reading, or praying, or anything more than the surface level measure of worship required to show off to his constituents.

Strange was appointed to fill Jeff Sessions’ Senate seat, when Sessions left to serve as Attorney General for the Trump administration.

In about six weeks, Alabama voters will go to the polls to elect someone to permanently fill that position. Strange has competition for that seat.

Six others are running for the vacated seat, among them Representative Mo Brooks, and state Senator Trip Pittman.

At a recent candidate forum, hosted by the Montgomery County Republican Executive Committee, Strange made his pitch to the deluded branch of Alabama voters in attendance.

Said Strange:

“President Trump is the greatest thing that’s happened to this country,” Strange said. “I consider it a Biblical miracle that he’s there.”

That’s the kind of talk that causes me to grieve.

Unbelievable, maybe, but to equate it to a Biblical miracle is ridiculous.

I touched on this earlier today, but the comment is ludicrous on its face.

So the formation of the nation, a free republic means nothing?

Countless innovations, the American spirit, men of grace and courage who have embodied everything that makes the American experiment so unique – nothing until Trump.

Insanity.

I have to believe Strange is attempting to read the depth of devotion by Trump’s faithful, and he’s trying to hold that seat.

In a straw poll taken at the forum, Mo Brooks took first place, while physician Randy Brinson, of Montgomery, Alabama took second place.

The special election will take place on August 15. Ten Republicans and eight Democrats are competing, all together. If a runoff election becomes necessary, that will take place on September 26, with the general election to be held on December 12.
