Things are getting a little uncomfortable. Time to clamp down.

At least, that’s the reaction of President Trump’s lead lackey, Sean Hannity.

I am endlessly appalled at how many freedoms and rights those who have sold their souls to Trumpism are willing pinch, if not outright shut down in defense of their cult leader.

Hannity is now promoting the idea that the White House should be allowed to structure the message coming from the White House press pool, by restricting what questions can be asked and which will be answered.

That’s called propaganda.

Said Hannity:

“First, the White House press team should regularly develop a list of the top and most important 15, 20, 25 issues of the day,” Hannity said late Monday.

“Next, the media, well, they should be able to submit questions about these issues in writing, give the White House time to respond with clarity and specificity, and if Sean Spicer then wants to take a couple of questions from the briefing room podium, that’s fine. But only on those specific topics.”

“You, the American people, would be better served,” Hannity added.

So what happens with breaking news? Is it ignored? Is there no back and forth, to assure that the questions are adequately answered?

Hannity is absolutely wrong when he says the American people would be better served by allowing the White House to control what and how we receive information.

The American people are better served when our government is held to strict account.

And yes, before anyone chimes in, I realize that didn’t happen in the last administration. That doesn’t mean this administration gets a pass.

None of us should want that. If anything, it should make us more determined, no matter who is in office, to hold our elected representatives accountable.

Thomas Paine, one of our founding fathers, said in 1792: “A nation under a well regulated government, should permit none to remain uninstructed. It is monarchical and aristocratical government only that requires ignorance for its support.”

Uninstructed or uninformed.

When we have a government, or those who speak in support of such a government that would try to control what we’re allowed to hear, as a nation, it’s time to revolt.
