So I told you this weekend about Secretary of State Tillerson making the comment that moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem would depend on a peace deal between Palestine and Israel – something we know isn’t just going to happen.

Today, I told you about heavyweight donor Sheldon Adelson’s outrage over those comments, as he is a fierce defender of Israel and knows what moving the embassy to Jerusalem means.

Now for something from Israel…

Conflict seems to be brewing in regards to not only the U.S. embassy, but the Western Wall, as well.

From the Jerusalem Post:

The drama unfolded when a senior White House official said that the Western Wall was part of the West Bank and not part of Israel’s territory, as Channel 2 reported on Monday.

“The Western Wall is not in your territory,” the official reportedly said.

It seems that the official was prompted to make the statement after members of Netanyahu’s team asked if Netanyahu could join Trump on the visit to the Western Wall and whether Israeli photographers could document the event, to which the Americans replied that the Western Wall was a “disputed territory.”

Wowzers!

Oh, don’t worry. It gets better.

According to Channel 2, the same official told members of Netanyahu’s team that Trump’s visit to the Western Wall was a private visit and also added: “No way, why is this your business?”

He’s the president of the nation that is supposedly Israel’s greatest ally, so, yeah… I’d say it’s the PM’s business.

The official allegedly went on to say: “This is not your territory but rather part of the West Bank.”

Keep in mind that this is coming after a meeting between Trump and Netanyahu in Washington in February of this year, where, during a press conference, Trump inexplicably turned to his guest and casually suggested that he’d like for Israel to stop building settlements on the West Bank, for the time being, catching everybody quite off guard.

And it’s coming after Tillerson’s statements.

As if these events weren’t troubling enough, someone from Trump’s campaign headquarters (That’s Fox News for those who haven’t been keeping up) tweeted out this response to the Tillerson controversy:

Um… what?

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Office denied the claim on Monday evening, issuing a statement that said: “The things published on Fox News are a lie.”

Netanyahu’s office then released a transcript from his February meeting with Trump, to prove that Powell’s tweet was just so much unfounded ca-ca:

“From a summary of the lunch at the White House: ‘President Trump was asked about the embassy and explained that it (moving the embassy) will not cause bloodshed in the region, like he has been warned against (President Trump).’ “

He didn’t really need the transcript, in my opinion. He just needed to say, publicly, that he never told Trump not to move the embassy.

In fact, he (Netanyahu) repeated the calls for the U.S. to move their embassy to Jerusalem today.

For all the world, it looks as if it’s still business as usual in Washington, and Trump is letting his staff show as much disrespect to our ally, Israel, as the Obama administration did.

So how will he handle this?
