Good.
In March 2016, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed HB2 – the bathroom bill heard around the world – into law.
Then-President Obama not only issued an edict, like some old world king, pronouncing all public school bathrooms across the nation as open to whoever, depending on your gender whim for the day.
He also ordered his Department of Justice to sue the state of North Carolina, threatening to cut off federal funds for both schools and public safety to the state.
I remember the day the news came down about the DOJ’s threat.
Governor McCrory asked for time to look over the details of the lawsuit, only to be arrogantly told they had just several days to look over the suit and either comply with the administration’s demands or prepare to be a broken state.
McCrory answered by launching a lawsuit against the DOJ and the federal government first.
Nice.
North Carolina didn’t budge. Attempts were made to compromise with the Charlotte City Council, but state Democrats convinced the council to hold on, in order to use the bathroom bill as a campaign tool.
Now, with the election season over, and a compromise bill finally reached, the lawsuit brought against the Tar Heel state has been dropped.
The Trump Justice Department is dropping the federal lawsuit against North Carolina’s “bathroom law” after the state agreed to replace the controversial measure.
Sandra Hairston, the acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina; and T.E. Wheeler, the acting assistant attorney general and head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division, announced the decision in a filing seeking to dismiss the government’s lawsuit.
This was the last loose end to tie up in a year-long struggle between decency and the lunatic fringe of the left.
Of course, the gay mafia and the liberal groups who support them are still unhappy. The eventual compromise bill, HB142, was basically a reset – doing the very thing that McCrory had attempted before the election – putting things back to the way they were before Charlotte attempted their experimentation with gender-bending bathrooms.
For the leftists, compromise was never anything they were willing to consider. They wanted complete compliance, and nothing less.
Everybody is ready to move on, now. I suggest they do the same.
