After Months as Trump's Lackey, the Trump Team Purges Any Chris Christie Remnants

When the Trump train tosses somebody from the train, they don’t allow any baggage to stay behind, do they?

It began this week when New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a devoted Trump toady, was unceremoniously dumped from the Trump transition team, after months of fetching Trump’s lunch and enduring mocking comments on the campaign trail.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence now heads the transition team.

Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) is the latest member of the team to depart in what an NBC source describe as a “Stalinesque purge of people close” to Christie. The New Jersey governor was demoted after Trump’s win and Vice President-elect Mike Pence took over the transition team.

Rogers’s ouster highlights the recent demotion of Christie, whose loyalty has been questioned, especially when the governor didn’t defend Trump at several points during the campaign, multiple sources told NBC.

It also puts a spotlight on the amount of control Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has on the incoming administration. Kushner and Christie were reportedly feuding and those same sources told the network Kushner harbors a grudge against the governor for prosecuting his father in 2004.

So Kushner is having the last laugh, here?

If that’s the case, Kushner, a Trump associate and liberal Democrat, is really putting the tenets of nepotism to work, and wielding a lot of clout within this forming administration.

Trump and Pence will be meeting at Trump Tower in New York City on Tuesday to discuss Cabinet appointments, Trump spokesman Jason Miller told Reuters.

“If the vice president-elect is getting together with the president-elect to discuss names, then I would say that it’s serious, obviously,” Miller said.

Hopefully, Pence will steer Trump towards some substantial choices and it won’t be one, long list of crony appointments that serve no real purpose, other than to surround a President Trump with a lot of mindless Yes Men.
