Scott Brown Explains Citizenship Revocation and Strongly Defends Arizona… (Note to All Upstart Conservative Candidates, This is How Its Done)

Here’s a tip for all aspiring conservative upstarts in 2010; use talk radio. Sounds simple right? But not really. I know of no other politician, whether during their campaign or during their term, to use talk radio to reach the people like Scott Brown.

Brown is ubiquitous on Boston talk radio, morning, noon and night. He leaves the campaign mode and the politico speak behind and always talks like a regular guy. He answers all questions, and takes more heat from the locals then all the national conservative internet activists could muster combined.

I didn’t like the proposed bill that would revoke citizenship from accused terrorists at first. I listened to Glenn Beck. I listened to all the gut reactions and all the hyperbole and then I listened to the People’s Senator… honest, deliberate, and thoughtful. Now, I am leaning towards Scott’s side.

Scott Brown takes his job seriously and is working hard to protect your loved ones, your family and your children. Just like Ted Kennedy and Martha Coakley… right haters?

Upstart conservatives… the blue print is there…

I’m still not convinced that this is a good bill, still have to look deeper… but linking to a recording of the Howie Carr show earns an automatic recommend.

But what I like about Scott is that he actually reads the bills, the fine print and makes conscietious decisions. At first, I thought this was blood thirst pandering, and a gross violation of the Constitution. But I didnt know this standard is 70 years old. Its seems to me now they are closing loopholes.

I hear Scott on Howie all the time and all the major talk radio stations (about four of them, and about a half dozen shows). Just straight up, regular guy talking to the people, no vetting.

(This is how he won the Indies, mods and conservative Dems. Not outside money or talk about ObamaCare. )

I listen online, when I can...

I’ve heard Brown on his show before, and am pretty impressed. I haven’t listened to much of the linked segment, but will do so tomorrow. Maybe it will change my mind, as well. I have tremendous respect for Howie Carr. During the years I lived in Concord, NH I listened to his show almost everyday. Since moving to Ohio, I try to listen online as often as possible.

Once one gets past the idiotic opening segments, that is.

I have to say that I am not disappointed that I contributed to Scott Brown’s campaign.

Ouch...

I love the opening to Howie Carr Show. I guess maybe it’s just one of those things that grows on you. I strongly agree about having no regrets donating to Scott Brown’s campaign. While many have voiced disappointment, I am very happy to have him in the Senate and hope he can retain the seat for years to come.

Exactly, I'd rather have someone who'll disappoint me occasionally

than someone who will never disappoint me because I know they’re against me 100% of the time.

I Think He Was Talking About Voice Clips

Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Saturday, May 8th at 1:45AM EST (link)

Howie always starts with stupid liberal audio… the clip of Chris Mattews is painful… But when understood in context, its music to my ears. (Honestly, I never listen to the national guys anymore. I find the local shows far more stimulating. Howie, Michael Graham, Charley Manning, Tom & Todd….)

I knew what he was talking about...

I loved when he used to have Chris Wallace declaring his man-crush on Mitt Romney. That used to make me laugh every day. To someone who doesn’t listen to his show everyday, it probably is annoying, but I used to crave hearing it everyday.

What benefits do you see to the bill that would strip Americans on foreign soil accused of being terrorists of their citizenship? I see very few, and several major problems to the legislation (any one could be “accused” of being a terrorist, and there could be major problems with NGO, Blackwater, and other employees who have their legal rights sacrificed on the altar of hysteria). It’s also puzzling to see it proposed in the context of the latest terrorist scare, where the bill wouldn’t apply. But hey, this is the brainchild of the guy who launched an investigation into the price of breakfast cereals (Joe Lieberman).

It Already Exists

Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Saturday, May 8th at 5:36AM EST (link)

I havent read it, but it seems few have. There are a list of seven critieria that are grounds for repealing citizenship. The process is deliberate. Due process rights are not sacrificed and there is an appeals process. The law has never been abused in 70 years. Its old. Its just not as arbitrary as some made it first seem. Mostly, th bill does is takes the list of enemy foreing states and makes it applicable to known terrorists groups. So, a terrorist cannot become a naturalized citizen then go back to Yemen and enage in demonstrable terrorist activities and hide behind rights afforded citizens.
