I can’t really identify with the immigrant experience, whether it’s legal or illegal, because some of my ancestors have been here since before the first English settlers and some of my English ancestors were here since Jamestown, and the others were here since the early 1800s.

I can, however, identify with cultures considering what a mish-mash my own is via all my varied ancestors who integrated parts of their cultures into the whole that became mine.

We are no longer the “melting pot” of FDR’s time (if we ever really were), that’s for sure, when we have to make concessions for this culture or that because anything else is offensive to them. All the Democrats are doing is igniting a cultural war as they work to make victims of everyone who isn’t white and heterosexual. This strategy may work in the short term but in the long term it creates more strife and violence than we’ve seen to date.

What happens when Muslims decide its time to turn against the feminists and the homosexuals for their behaviors? The abortionists? The black and Mexican gangs? At the moment (with the exception of the gangs) these groups seem united against the common enemy of the white Christian and, inevitably, the Jews. What happens if they win?

Will black Christians be next? What about all the other cultures that are at present being ignored like Indians( from India) and the various groups of Orientals? Or will it all erupt into the culture war that is simmering beneath the seemmingly unified surface?

When you have various cultural groups that feel not even a smidgeon of allegiance to the country in which they reside, but feel entitled to being considered a favored class, culture wars may be an understatement if those groups get their wish.

There is no single issue that faces this Nation that both chills my spine and boils my blood more than this one!!!

The stakes on this are politically devastating for our side. Therefore, the push for amnesty will never stop unless we get clear thinking conservatives (note the wording…”Conservatives” NOT Republicans many of who will just throw in with Democrats)

But let’s not kid ourselves, we may not grant an Amnesty now, but we will in 15 years once all the birthright citizens will answer the clarion call to vote for the Democrats that promise to attach everyone on Earth to the public teat the fastest.

Maybe Weimar Republic inflation will Banana-ize us so fast that the draw toward El Norte will dissipate in the face of the reality that it’s not so different than El Sur.

Hard to decide which is worse….

At the right time, they could play this to their advantage.

But if they push this now, with 10% unemployment, they’ll lose entire sections of the electorate, including rank-and-file union members, blacks, and a good chunk of the legal Hispanic community. Not to mention nearly all Independents.

I hope and pray that they’re that dumb…

If they push it and dont get it. Gold. If they push it and get it, it will pay some dividends in 2010, but we are talking some 10 to 20 new Democratic voters.

They know the risk. Its a calculated gamble. We’d lose whole states for generations if they get amnesty and register enough voters.

But, man! I hope the Dems are stupid enough to push it come January – it’s the one thing that would pretty much guarantee a 100+ seat swing to the GOP in the House, and could even give the GOP outright control of the Senate next year…

(P.S. This poll would be an excellent talking point to any politician who opposes Amnesty – it would be pretty devastating to the pro-Amnesty side…)

Like you, my ancestors came from other countries, Ireland, Scotland, Norway among them, along with some Canadian Indian as well. To my knowledge, we haven’t been an amazingly rich lot of folks, but my grandfather was a soldier in WWI and my dad fought in WWII. They both raised children who have been proud of and loyal to America, children who have been good parents, taxpayers and hard workers, grandparents in their own right now. And we wish to pass on that same country and those values to succeeding generations.

But if the Dems have their way, my generation will be the last one raised in the America that has been a beacon of freedom in a dark and dangerous world. There will be no more immigrants who will come here and “make good”, because that opportunity will no longer exist. At best, they will be just one more mouth on the government dole.

Uh, we have a “legalization program” already – it’s called “naturalization” and people have been doing it for decades. When Zogby is saying “legalization program” he means “amnesty”.
