Dear Senator Burr, WTF?

Tarheel Alert

Will somebody please explain to me what Senator Burr is doing? Is he soft or is he just incoherent? I’m leading towards the latter. I think he may have misspoke and the liberals are taking it out of context.

But someone may want to remind Senator Burr that he is up for re-election this year and that the impending health care vote may be the most important vote of his lifetime. A little coherence would be nice. He needs to get his act together because this isn’t going to fly:

We are making so much progress. That we have to take a step back and put Republicans in North Carolina on notice is exasperating.

That was a stupid thing for Burr to say at any point in an interview...

They spliced it just before he said the really stupid part, probably somewhat out of context but why would ANY Republican ever utter the words “Its ok if you want a public option?”

He is one of the sopnsors of the Patients Choice Act so hopefully he just had a bad day. Unfortunately he’s one of mine. He’ll hear about it. What an idiot.

He is up for re-election, he’s already been challenged to a Health Care debate by Kenneth Lewis (D), Burr said he will do one but wants to wait till everyone running for the position is in the race.

How about using the time to extract your head from your fourth point of contact Senator?

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams

Already backtracking

Burr is already backtracking from that comment, according to Politico.

He had better be. I have heard the Dems are targeting him as a weak seat in 2010.
