But its people like you that need to be thanked. I just got some stuff early being on the ground here. One thing was apparent from the beginning, for those who were close to the facts and those who knew Gates and his ilk, was that we had the moral high ground and we were right.

I feared the MSM would swamp our guerilla like efforts and push the ‘racist cop who wouldnt apologize’ meme. But people like you shared the truth acorss the country and the grass roots and the cops pushed back fiercely.

Its dying down now and we won the day, so I stopped posting as relentlessly as I was.

He doesn’t even dwell on his persoanl insults and problems and is able to go beyond that and address future problems for society and other people. I hope my son is that wise and selfless and has so much concern for others and society when he is grown. He is really a remarkable man.

Cheryl’s post above is also informative, especially if taken in context with the early results we are seeing on the CNN online poll. If Crowley and Lashley had happened before the Joe the Plumber incident, yeah, the left would be gunning for them both the same way they did Joe. But there was blowback on Joe, and it keeps getting riskier to pull that stunt. In this case, it is even more dangerous. Most of the country knows this case. Most of this country now knows the “stupid officer” has point on the diversity front, and EVERYBODY who has reviewed his work prior to the Gates incident said he was doing not merely a good job, but a great one. They also knew a “black officer” was on the scene and backed Crowley over Gates. Hopefully they will soon know his name (Lashley) as well as they do his partner’s. Targeting Lashley in any way, but perhaps most especially in the sort of media hit job done on Joe, is likely to put match to the tinderbox again. And neither Congress, nor The Big 0, not the state run media (formerly the MSM) can afford the sort of credibility hit that would ensue from lighting that fire again. Pardon the mixed metaphor, but they dodged a bullet on the Gates incident. It is doubtful they’ll dodge it again if they don’t stay away from it.

on any black who steps out of the “evil white racist” narrative. Remember, Democrats CANNOT WIN without blacks voting as a block. They would be finished as a party. They have a vested interest in keeping the racial pot boiling…

for providing us the updates as things have been happening over there. I have been sharing your diaries with my son, a police officer in California’s central valley. He’s been sharing them too, with his buddies from the police academy and college and other statewide training events and of course the guys he works with. Then there are the deputies from the local county sheriff’s office and neighboring counties and well, you know how these things continue to get around. From a parent, I am truly greatful to you and all the other Redstaters who stood with and behind Officer Crowley. Cheryl

It’s too bad, because if Obama wants to open a dialogue about race, that’s def one side of it that you will not hear about. Blacks are treated very harshly if they step outside of the orthodoxy of people like Gates, think Condoleeza Rice, etc.

I hope for Sgt Crowley’s case it is, but you have to know (especially after Joe the Plumber) they have it in for him now. Whenever he arrests another person of racial minority or writes them a ticket, you can bet one of them will cry fowl. I really think that people should leave this good man alone and let him do his job. According to all reports he has an excellent record. I hope that the left loons don’t try and screw up the man’s life over this.
