Just four months after her re-appointment and four days after Sarah Palin’s stunning resignation announcement, Republican Kelly Ayotte announced her resignation as New Hampshire’s Attorney General amid a flurry of protests from fearful Democrats. She is exploring a Senate run. It looks like Palin has an East Coast soulmate. (Can someone say trendsetter?)
I’ve been studying Ayotte’s record and think conservatives will be pleased, especially pro-lifers. Ayotte is a principled woman, who does more than pay lip-service to her principles. She lives them and fights for them.
Ayotte lacks Palin’s charisma. She is soft spoken and mild-mannered, but she is a tough prosecutor and her calm demeanor plays well in New Hampshire. People like her. Early polls show her leading the probable Democratic candidate, Paul Hodes.
Democrats are obviously afraid of popular, attractive conservative women who threaten their foundation of victimization and identity politics. They can’t tear them all down.
Run Kelly run:
It’s like Deja Vu all over again.

Appointed, not elected

Kelly Ayotte was the appointed AG, not elected, a very big difference. Ayotte is only quitting an office the Governor of NH appointed her to, not the people who elected her to office.
Ayotte is also gearing up to run for a elected office, a Senate seat. By resigning from the AG office in she is avoiding any appearance of ethics violations before they can occur, a very smart move given how the MSM has declared open season on R’s.
Trend setter….not so much.

No kidding
Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 8:00AM EST (link)Tha’ts why I stated she was re-appointed in the first sentence.
Don't mind the Anti-Bots, swamp
Jack_Savage (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 10:52AM EST (link)Whenever you mention a heterosexual woman in a favorable light, there you will find Steve LA with some obscure, disparaging comment.
I would think he would be too busy taking John McCain to a taxedermist so he could pimp him again in 2012.
thanks for the HU on this Ayotte in NH, Swamp-nt
DONTREADONME (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 10:52PM EST (link)No, actually it doesn't sound familiar at all.
mbecker908 (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 11:05PM EST (link)Especially when you consider she was a very successful AG and she’s actually resigning to do something specific.
Oh, and she’s not a quitter.
Teeth brushing too?
SteveLA (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 11:15PM EST (link)mbecker..
I wonder if Kelley Ayotte also brushes her teeth and flosses, could be a trend there too.
From the above picture, looks like she parts her hair on the left, I don’t think that a trend do you? I somehow doubt she’s ever hunted Moose so no trend there ether.

Well, there are probably more moose closer to
mbecker908 (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 11:35PM EST (link)Ayotte than SWMNBN…
Like in the movie?
SteveLA (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 11:40PM EST (link)mbecker
Like in the movie Bettlejuice, say the name three times and the Bots appear?

"Big Tent, Big Tent, Big Tent"?
Jack_Savage (Diary) Tuesday, July 7th at 11:49PM EST (link)Or maybe “RINO, RINO, RINO”?
It works
SteveLA (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 12:00AM EST (link)I thought that was only in the TV show South Park where they summoned the ghost of Biggy Smalls….IT WORKS, we summoned a BOT!

Actually, I was thinking more of McCainBots
Jack_Savage (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 10:39AM EST (link)Which is actually very similar to that South Park show – you know, a guy who is a bloated carcass still being pimped by you long after his pathetic time in the spotlight has passed.
I look forward ot the day when you are able to move on, and get over your fear of heterosexual women. They’re not bad, you know…
Actually
Swamp_Yankee (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 8:05AM EST (link)She’s not dong anything specific yet. She’s still exploring. One persons resignation is another person’s quitting I guess. A premature resignation is a premature resignation any way you slice it.
Swamp is right and Becker is wrong
pilgrim (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 9:07AM EST (link)Any way you slice it, quitting a job is quitting a job. Neither lady had quit to go to another job. Either one, both, or neither may be successful at a run for office in future. In any event, if either of them run the opposition will point to their quitting their job as a mark against them. Why conservatives want to pile on with calling them out for this escapes me.
OTOH, I do share some frustration of others with folks who try to spin that they are absolutely positively certain that either of these ladies will reach great heights. Hoping is one thing, but projecting is ‘BOT behavior.
That name sounds familiar
Menlo (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 12:08AM EST (link)Didn’t she argue a case before the Supreme Court a few years ago?

Many states' merit system laws require you
Achance (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 9:20AM EST (link)to resign from appointed positions if you engage in any partisan political activity. The laws are generally only enforced when Republicans engage in political activity, but they’re still on the books.
In Vino Veritas
She is totally different than Palin
mom2oneson (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 9:40AM EST (link)She speaks highly of those in her office. She appears to be focused. She is articulate and precise and she has direction. On this site everyone says Palin is articulate but that isn’t what I’ve seen. Palin never appears to be focused on work stuff. She might be but that isn’t what I’ve ever gotten from her speeches and statements.
It's too soon to be certain of that mom2one
pilgrim (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 10:02AM EST (link)I’m a results guy myself, and so far the results are that both ladies have quit a job without having a new job to go to. Time will eventually tell what kind of success and future each of them have. The speeches and statements are never as important to me as the results.
pilgrim I agree with you
mom2oneson (Diary) Wednesday, July 8th at 10:36AM EST (link)I am not dooming Palin either. Most conservative women absolutely love her. Her stepping down has made her even more popular with her fans. If she runs in 12 we will go canvasing and make phone calls like we did in the fall.
I am not for judging on appearances like superficial things but I can’t deny that Ayotte comes across like she has direction and is working. That isn’t really dependent on how well she speaks. That is something that is visible just in people every day. I’m sure we both have worked with people that are thinking about work vs people that are not no matter how they speak or talk about it. I’m not saying Palin does not work, I’m just saying that Ayottee comes across like that person that is working and has direction. In addition to not being aritculate, Palin has also spent a lot of time talking about personal things in a lot of detail. It just doesn’t give the impression that she is working.
Did Kelly win a Beauty Contest-I'm sure media is searching
