Roll Call is reporting:
Rep. Dale Kildee (D-MI), a key supporter of Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) anti-abortion language intended for the health care bill, said Tuesday night that he’s satisfied the Senate abortion language prohibits federal funding of abortions and will likely vote for the bill.
“I think the Senate language keeps the purpose of the Hyde amendment,” Kildee told reporters. “I’ll probably vote for it.”
House Democratic leadership aides have predicted that they could perhaps cut the losses from Stupak’s coalition to a handful instead of the 10 or more Members he says will vote to bring down the Senate health care bill unless their demands are met.
It seems that Rep. Kildee is placing all his trust in the Senate these days, but I sure hope realizes that the healthcare bill once passed by the House will go directly to President Obama’s desk to be signed and those promised changes will never see the light of day.
In case anyone wants to let him know how a bill becomes a law, give him a ring.

IJB Wednesday, March 10th at 2:05AM EST (link)Only Dems in something like a D+11 district could get away with a ‘No’ to ‘Yes’ switch.
But any Dems in a D+5 district (or worse) is likely to get crucified on Election Day for a switch like this.
I still don’t think this gets them anywhere near close enough to passage – unless they can flip all of Stupak’s crew, it’s still a ‘Bridge Too Far’…
Why did this guy vote against it to begin with?

No big loss here
treeofliberty Wednesday, March 10th at 8:42AM EST (link)He was already a Yes vote the first time around anyway so it’s a net-net wash.
This changes nothing, Pelosi has still lost several Dems due to retirement, death and the 1 GOP member who voted yes. As well as at least 1 Dem who voted Yes and has vowed to switch.
It needs to be remembered that the Stupak people all voted YES the 1st time around; in other words these are votes that Pelosi MUST retain to have any chance whatsoever. Peeling off even a few of the Stupak Dems could kill this bill.
Heck even with retaining all the Stupak votes it still would be a razor close vote considering the retirements, death, Cao and possible Dem defections.

The strategy is simple: Republicans are a mandatory ‘no’. Period.
The Republicans who find ways to suffocate this monster get the best rewards from constituents and their eventual acknowledgment from present/(lotsa)future colleagues.
Democrats are in a tougher position, whereas they find themselves between their constituents on a micro-political level and the American People on a macro scale-both of which WILL influence their futures.
Personally, I think the Will of the American People give more than enough cover for the idiots on the fence. I find it ironical that socialists won’t even listen to the general will of the people at the very moment the idiots demand power-that seems to skip a Historical step in my mind.
HOPEfully, the dems won’t sell out for thirty pieces of silver, but even if they do, we MUST make certain NOW that those idiots are aware that the Native American Woman above the Capital may have a blind on, but the American People do NOT.

Congressman Kildee is Vulnerable
Michigan Asset Protection (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 6:58AM EST (link)His district has one of the highest unemployment rates of any congressional district in the country.
I would agree that in any other election year, he would not be vulnerable. However, he has always ran as a pro-life democrat. This district has voted for pro-life democrats for decades (Kildee and Barcia). That combined with the lack of any well known democrat running for governor in November, puts this seat in play.
A young, smart, alternative in the district, such as State Representative Paul Scott could win this seat.
Dale Kildee was a Yes

Stupak was a Yes too.
Michigan Asset Protection (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 7:35AM EST (link)Arguably, Kildee was a yes because of the Stupak Amendment.
He is part of the Stupak 12
