Memo to Michael Steele

I remember back in November when you hopped on a plane to congratulate Chris Christie for his victory in New Jersey.   On Tuesday night, if Scott Brown should prevail, don’t you dare!   It won’t be your party; and you can interpret that phrase everywhich way.

We should all thank you Scott Brown for having the fortitude to persevere.  He worked every day, 18 hours a day.  The guy started at less than zero.  He shook every hand in sight and made retail politics the bread and butter of his campaign.  And it worked.   As a Republican.  In Massachusetts!   Of all places.   He raised money, no thanks to you or the RNC, and it flooded in – small donations – from people everywhere.  My elderly dad asked me to show him how to donate “through the computer.”   Your support can best be described as perfunctory.  At the same time interest in Scott Brown was growing, you were reminding people how the Republican Party CAN’T retake Congress.  Nice timing.

If, God willing, Scott Brown pulls this out next Tuesday, it won’t be because of you or the RNC.  it will be in spite of you.   It will be because the guy was tireless in a place where no one – you included – thought his tireless effort was worth it.  He did.  Win or lose, he deserves our thanks.  But, in either event, don’t you dare jump in front of the parade.

That’s all.  I’ll be watching.

Careful. Talk like that might get you banned.

But you’re right.

That would be a shame.

And I hope that doesn’t happen. I hope, if this is objectionable, it’s just removed.

But it’s my honest thought.

Why would you say "banned"?

Did I post something forbidden? Or, am I missing something now?

I've been called a fool for contending that we lose by not fighting...and refusing to run candidates in blue states...

AceInTX (Diary) Friday, January 15th at 12:58PM EST (link)

yet here we are…We owe Brown a huge debt for teaching us that no district or state is worthy of abandonment by our party…

we need to have candidates in every state and district running in this election…make Dems spend their money to defend seats they thought were unassailable…make them work overtime saving the’r most reliable and preciously safe seats and in the process…we’ll pick of some of their bigs…but more importantly..we’ll pick off more of their littles who will wither on the vine for lack of support!

let the war begin…and let’s make the enemy fight on every front!

The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one…the correct one is a MAGNET…we need to be a MAGNET that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in WashingtonFred Thompson

You are absolutely right. How do you establish yourself until you fight? Every inch must be fought. As if your life depends on it.

During the Presidential campaign of 2008 the most disappointing moment at least for me was when McCave quit on Michigan.

Don’t lose without fighting to win.

We absolutely need to contest the seats. Scott Brown is proving himself to be a man of the people in Massachusetts, there are plenty of Independents who are not far off from our beliefs. The mistake the establishment GOP has made, is in not stating a message separate from the Democrats. Or maybe they give lip service, but certainly do follow through the way they should.

Think about it, since when is a traditional American not really a conservative one? Conservatism works, it is at the heart of traditional America and it is about independence, not dependence. I have no intention of supporting the establishment GOP, but the I will support the effort to change it out.

We are the people and all of these seats are “the peoples’ seats,” thus we should be vying for them.

I mean…think about it…They used Christians as torches in Rome and fed them to the dogs….but eventually Rome ended up spreading Christianity throughout the known world in the end.

If we at least make the arguments in blue states…and stick to the message…and prove ourselves to be doers of the conservative word and not just speakers of it…we’ll start turning this around…we may lose in the short turn…but to just walk away from the east and west coasts and abandon urban America to liberalism or worse…become aiders and abettors of the left wing agenda as the Republican PArty has done for 12 years or more is pure insanity!

and I can’t believe we let it go as long as we did!

For a race this far away, things don’t look so good for Babs Boxer, and with the state facing huge issues with the states budget, it’s not going to get better for Babs.

The longtime Democratic senator runs best right now against state Assemblyman Chuck Devore, beating him by six points, 46% to 40%. Two months ago, though, she posted a 10-point lead on DeVore, 49% to 39%.

As for Campbell, the ex-congressman and former state finance director who on Thursday quit the governor’s race to jump into the Senate contest, Boxer leads him by just four points, 46% to 42%.

Like Mass., CA is a fairly liberal state but a R can win if they make the race about national issues like taxes and spending and how out of touch with ordinary folks Democraps are, and Babs is way out of touch.

we don’t even try to build a foundation and recruit in conservative states like Arkansas. Huckabee was governor there for ten freaking years and the Republican Party couldn’t elect a dog catcher when he left office. (I’m not picking on Huck, he’s just a convenient example)

I’m serious, There are things they can do that we cannot, unless we are prepared to create a shadow-party. That would cost millions, but is what I’ve been pushing for over a year now.

Look what happened to the AFL. They got to be the AFC.

yeah...we can let em back in the fold...but we need to make sure they don't take the credit nt
