Last week, Democrat ingénue Alexandria Ocasio Cortez introduced a word-salad resolution in the US House of Representatives to commit the nation to what she and her slobbering fan club call a Green New Deal (GND, for short). You an read the text here but behind the the soporific text is a clear desire to transform the US into Venezuela but with less toilet paper.

(Years ago, the Washington Post’s Tony Kornheiser described the horrible, pointless movie “The Piano” this way: “”The Piano” is a double win, as you get to see Hunter naked (and for those of you who are thus inclined, weird Harvey Keitel also); plus, because she doesn’t speak, you don’t have to hear her hideous squawk.” Is AOC getting voice lessons from Holly Hunter?)

The rollout was much as you might expect from a former bartender from Brooklyn and had some hilarious moments as the original text promised guaranteed income to people who were “unwilling” to work, perhaps the most blatant and shameless lies in the history of cable news, and a crop of wonderful parodies.

Dozens of Democrat politicians, including presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Cory “No, Really, I Do Have A Girlfriend” Booker tripped over themselves in their haste to support the plan.

Now House Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is giving the Democrats a chance to vote on the bill.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday that the Senate will vote on the Green New Deal resolution introduced last week by a coalition of progressive lawmakers vowing to eliminate all greenhouse-gas emissions within ten years, while simultaneously creating millions of jobs in a government-subsidized green-energy sector.

“I’ve noted with great interest the Green New Deal. And we’re going to be voting on that in the Senate. Give everybody an opportunity to go on record and see how they feel about the Green New Deal,” McConnell said with a sly smile during a Tuesday press conference.

McConnell is a pretty shrewd guy on issues that interest him. He’s been a true warrior in ramming judges through the Senate. That shows in in this decision. McConnell knows this is a meaningless vote as it will not pass the Senate…in fact, it probably won’t pass the House. But it will serve as fodder in literally every political race in 2020 where someone voted for this idiocy.
