Does CNN Turning On Kyrsten Sinema Mean the Democrats Are Calling It Quits In Arizona?

Loony left Democrat Kyrsten Sinema has had a very tough week. In addition to a new poll showing her down by six points to Republican Martha McSally in the race to replace Jeff Flake (winner gets the empty Senate seat, loser gets the empty suit), there were some exotic statements and events that came out of her past.

Calling stay an home moms “leeches” and cavorting with terrorist enablers aren’t really big selling items in Arizona.

Now something has happened that makes me wonder if the Democrats have just thrown up their hands and are giving up on the Arizona seat. That happening is the sudden decision by the CNN “KFiles” bunch to run oppo on a Democrat. Andrew Kaczynski, a highly partisan CNN reporter who specializes in finding middle school term papers of candidates and pulling quotes from those papers to try to hurt them politically. Overwhelmingly his targets are Republicans. Sometimes he aims at a mortally wounded Democrat.

Yesterday, he ran an article detailing a lot of Sinema’s deranged, far left statements over the years.

Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema’s past ties to far-left groups are resurfacing as she campaigns to win Arizona’s Senate race against her Republican opponent, Rep. Martha McSally. Sinema is running on her Congressional record as a hawk on military spending and defense, proclaiming in an ad she would do “whatever it takes” to keep America safe and boasting that she fought for “billions for military spending.”
But the Democratic congresswoman also has an extensive past as a progressive activist. Her events and associations in opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — and her early years as a Democratic lawmaker in Arizona — frequently brought her into contact with the left-wing fringe, a KFile review finds.

Her biggest anti-war event was a February 15, 2003, protest in Patriot’s Square Park in Phoenix. Flyers, as first reported by CNN’s KFile, distributed by an anti-war group led by Sinema depicted a US soldier as a menacing skeleton inflicting “U.S. terror” in Iraq and the Middle East.

She co-hosted a radio show with a libertarian (who else?) who equated joining the Taliban with joining the RAF to fight the Germans in World War II.

She co-hosted an Air America show (remember that dumpster fire?) with a prominent 9/11 Truther.

If CNN were actually a news gathering organization and not an adjunct to the Democrat party, then you could write this off as standard reporting. But that isn’t the case. CNN has all but declared its mission of opposing the GOP every day for nearly three years. They have run a string of debunked stories designed to damage the administration and their correspondents act more like hecklers at press events than reporters. As I don’t believe that impartial journalism has been resurrected at CNN, one has to wonder about the timing of a left-wing media outlet publishing damning information on a Democrat Senate candidate locked in a close race for a seat that once looked like a pick-up. The obvious conclusion is that no one thinks Sinema is going to win this race and they are trying to reestablish a veneer of impartiality.
