The FBI has completed its seventh background investigation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and, shocker, it is saying there is nothing new there:

The White House has found no corroboration of the allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after examining interview reports from the FBI’s latest probe into the judge’s background, according to people familiar with the matter.

It was unclear whether the White House, which for weeks has raised doubts about the allegations, had completed its review of the FBI interview reports.

Still, the White House’s conclusions from the report aren’t definitive at this point in the confirmation process. Senators who will decide Mr. Kavanaugh’s fate are set to review the findings on Thursday, and some of them may draw different conclusions.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), the Senate Judiciary Committee’s chairman, said on Twitter early Thursday that the committee had received the report.

The result could leave senators in much the same position as last week—faced with two witnesses providing mutually exclusive accounts and forced to decide between them. The investigation, which concluded two days before its Friday deadline, has faced mounting criticism in recent days from Democrats who have said the probe wasn’t appropriately comprehensive. Investigators spoke to one of the three women who made accusations of sexual misconduct against Judge Kavanaugh.

Yesterday, word was leaking out that Ford’s main witness, Leland Keyser, was sticking to her position of a) not knowing Kavanaugh and b) never attending a party like the one described by Ford. It is a safe bet that Mark Judge and Patrick Smyth stuck to their stories also. This left just Ramirez story that was fluffed by Ronan Farrow and that story was never terribly plausible in the first place and it is hard to believe it became more plausible under rigorous examination.

Ford’s attorneys (who actually, contractually are not her attorneys as she is not paying them) are bleating about the FBI not interviewing Ford or Kavanaugh. This is just nonsense. Both Ford and Kavanaugh have provided extensive statements, under oath, on the subject.

But the WSJ is right. Kavanaugh’s background investigations are clean despite what smears the Democrats decide to start floating. This entire sorry episode brought on by a gutless Jeff Flake returns us to status quo ante. One hundred percent of the evidence says that Christine Ford is either a blatant liar or grotesquely mistaken. She is not afraid of flying. She is not claustrophobic. She did not have a second door put on her home from fear of Kavanaugh. She can’t remember how she got to this alleged party. She can’t remember whose home it was. She can’t remember how she got home. She has never offered an explanation of why she abandoned her friend in a house with people she thought would rape her. She never mentioned the incident to anyone for 30 years. All of the people she says were there deny such a party ever happened. She is alleged to have coached a friend on taking a polygraph but denied that under oath. The contradictions build until it is hard to believe that she is doing anything but carrying out a cynical, cold-blooded political hit. She is not a victim of anything but her partisan animus which has made her into a sociopath who would deliberately destroy Kavanaugh’s reputation to support her political goals.
