As a military professional who spent several years of his life turning young men who were pig ignorant of firearms into competent and safe shooters, a lot of the debate over arming teachers and/or school staff has struck me as silly. The idea seems to be that shooting accurately and safely is something only a handful of beady-eyed killers can do. This, of course, is nonsense. Teaching safe handling of firearms and how to use it effectively is pretty much analogous to teaching someone to use any other power tool effectively.

I’d be the first to say that no one should be forced to carry a firearm, but neither is there any reason to think that it is necessary to have a SWAT team at each school.

This video is from the Fallen Brethren 3-Gun Challenge. The shooter is using, in order of use, Bushmaster ACR in .223, Benelli M-2 shotgun in 12-gauge, and the Smith & Wesson M&P Pro in 9mm.

The shooter is 13-year-old Katelyn Francis.
