[Update]: It would appear that Ms. Marcotte has decided to respond to her critics by... attempting to obscure the historical record, in a most craven fashion. Please peruse this blog for Marcotte's before-and-afters: the 'before' does not meet even minimal standards for polite public discourse and the 'after' is simply an embarrassment to the whole blogosphere. She didn't even blipping try. That's got to be one heck of a paycheck that Playstation Johnnie's signing for her. - Moe Lane

From this clownshoe, though, I take it as a badge of honor. I only hope that she is as successful in her field as the pillar of upstanding virtue and honesty that is Mike Nifong was in his prosecution of those horrible sadists from Duke.

I said a few days ago to Flyerhawk (I think it was Flyerhawk, if it wasn't, sorry Flyerhawk) that the Donks are throwing just about everything they can at the wall to see what sticks.
And to think that people doubted my prophesy! Truly, absolutely extraordinary. I mean, I couldn't have asked for a better choice from John Edwards to lead his internet campaign.
For a while there, I think people were believing I was Dr. Weird from Aqua Teens. But I'm not Dr. Weird. I'm Dr. Freakin' Mephistopheles.
That's the one who has Southern appeal, because he's from Carolina, right? And the Champion! of the Working! Man!, right? Well, I can't imagine how bringing on board a vociferous supporter of the railroading of the Duke lacrosse team could possibly affect that. (Who's Kucinich hiring, BTW?)
and kucinich.us doesn't mention anyone on staff by name. A WHOIS search showed that Kucinich himself is the registrant and main contact, and someone with "djmctigue" in their email address is the technical contact, but who knows who that is.
Unless the site never times anyone out, I was one of 256 visitors at the moment, at 2:40 am.
Kucinich may be the wrong candidate entirely but, once again, he may also be the most honest candidate in the Democrat field.
Just when I was starting to get comfortable with my internet routine (RedState, Drudge, RCP, NRO), I clicked on those links and found my way to pandagon. I guess I needed a reminder that the internet is not filled exclusively with interesting and insightful commentary. There really are dark, scary corners of the web chock-full of nonsense.
John who?
Google ... yahoo ... ask.com ... oh. The Breck Girl.
Come on, let's show a little professionalism here, and at least give the candidates their proper tags.
Erm.

I guess that means we need to team him up with the guy who channels Dewey and Louis...

I wonder just how seriously she will take this new Blogmaster job. Considering that her candidate is about as viable as nationalizing Exxon-Mobil and using the profits to finance mandatory abortions for low-income minority women.
Especially since they've already enthusiastically decided to implement the classic banana republic strategy of "You will 'renegotiate' these contracts with us -- or else."

With the help of a compliant news media, Edwards can energize the Dems' nut base while still presenting a "reasonable" profile to the public-at-large. I remember a couple of years ago where Dean would go off on a nutty rant a week and people at Redstate thought he was a gift that keeps on giving. It turns out that since the media didn't report it, and the Republicans didn't challenge him, he got the best of both worlds. He whipped up the nut base and kept a "reasonable" image to the world at large.
Dusting it off.

Then when confronted about it, they lie and hide the evidence.
Well I am shocked.

I guess the former Senator is the new, uh, what's his name... the guy in Connecticut.. I can never think of his name. The Democrat who lost in a Democratic state in a Democratic year, against a candidate who was and is for the 'unpopular' war.
Run like Reagan!
Remember? The guy who hired an angry, feminist blogger who decided to Photoshop blackface onto a picture of Joe Lieberman?
I wasn't surprised to discover that there's more of Amanda Marcotte's work out there in the interweb than just the things she's written and deleted at Pandagon. She's also a member of Participate.Net and has written a handful of pieces, starting a little over a year ago and ending, according to them, about 5 weeks back. They're a lefty film company/activist group/blog. She talks up the Duke case in fairly considerable depth in her March 30 post, as a part of the discussion thread for the "Stand Up" campaign.
So, while the site was down, the big news burning up the feminist blogosphere is this horrific gang rape at Duke. I’m happy to see so much attention being paid to it; I’m even happier to see that there’s been protests at the university. Without social support for the victims of these crimes, the assailants usually don’t get any justice. Ampersand has a round-up of all sorts of great blogging on it–I won’t reiterate the details because you can get them all there.
More on Participant Productions:
Participant Productions is a film company with a mission to make the world a better place. We believe in the power of media to create social change, but the movie is just the beginning. Our goal is to deliver compelling entertainment that will raise awareness about important social issues, educate audiences and inspire them to take action – here at Participate.net. We are dedicated to creating a whole new kind of action flick, where positive social change is the true measure of success.
For everyone's reference as this story develops.
After that post, I discovered something else that was cockeyed about Marcotte's blog there: Participate.net indicates that there were 27 replies to the March 30 post, but as of now all of them appear to have been deleted or are no longer publicly available! They're also conspicuously absent in the latest Google cache of the page, which was taken on January 27. Funny, because you can read the replies in all of her other posts at Participate.net. Try it.
Those 27 replies seem to have just vanished into thin air! I tried the Wayback Machine's archives also, and they crawled that page in April and May of '06, but there weren't any replies at that point, I can only surmise. And yet, Participate.net indicates that at some point there were as many as 27 of them. Where in the world did they go? Do you have to be a registered user to see them, but only in that one instance? Nothing in any of the other threads indicates that comments are restricted or private.
It's a real mystery. Must be part of the Feminine Mystique.
I wonder, did Edwards hire this woman for her eloquence?
From NRO's Corner... There are two Americas: one in which John Edwards gives bland speeches of soporific niceness, the other in which his campaign blogger unleashes foaming rants of stereotypically obsessive derangement.
We should demand legislation nationalizing Steyn. He's a national treasure without regard to his citizenship.

We're only one month into 2007 and the first blog scandal of the 2008 campaign already has erupted.
The central character: Amanda Marcotte of Pandagon, who this week accepted a job as "blogmaster" to the presidential campaign of Democrat John Edwards. Part of her job is to write at the campaign blog.
The scandalous storyline: Like all bloggers, Marcotte is fast and loose with her opinions, and her opinion of the infamous rape allegations against lacrosse players at Duke University didn't sit well with some folks. When Marcotte started catching flak for that opinion, she apparently deleted it and started altering other comments at Pandagon.
