Hating James Dobson: To Heck With His Qualifications, He's a Meanie

Rush Limbaugh is in the Radio Hall of Fame and deservedly so. He redefined talk radio. This year, the Radio Hall of Fame is considering Dr. James Dobson, along with Howard Stern, Bob Costas, and Laura Schlessinger.
As you can imagine, the left is going nuts over Dobson's nomination. They do not care about Dobson's impact on the medium. They do not care about how many people listen to him [Ed. -- That is *precisely* what they care about]. They really only care that Dobson is a Christian with strongly held views they consider hateful, i.e. his opposition to gay marriage.
A group called Truth Wins Out is trying to scuttle Dobson's nomination because, according to their Executive Director, "We believe that character counts and nominees should have careers based on honesty and integrity – not discrimination, distorting research and outright lying."
Just to be clear here, this is a pro-gay organization that wants to shut out Dr. Dobson for disagreeing with the lifestyle -- in other words they are intolerant of Dobson's opinion and want to deny him entry into the Radio Hall of Fame as a result.
It's a sad day in America when a man as imminently qualified for recognition in the field of radio as Dobson is would be shut out of the Hall of Fame for exercising his first amendment rights on the radio in a way leftists disagree with.

The squishy middle has a problem with it too.
As a matter of fact, the near right hems and haws over the filth and disgust that is the homosexual lifestyle.
Truly, more people need to be down with Leviticus 20:13.
It's right there, people.

They support Howard Stern, though? Perhaps Dr. Dobson hasn't spent enough time in the Fartman suit for their tastes.

Yeah, but look at all the good things Stern has done...
I mean....
uh...
well, hold on, I'll think of something....

then he started having increased run ins with the FCC...Bush became the bad guy.
McCain for POTUS so the left can't ruin SCOTUS.
and many Libertarians have become Bush opponents.

I don't believe he thinks deeply enough about it to be fairly classified. I remember when he used to actually be funny. In the early 1990's. He really was very funny back then. But narcissism, hate, and childish vulgarity became 100% of his show and I stopped listening.

I'm sure he's still funny to the younger male population...but age tends to season a man's tastes away from the juvenile humor that is Howard Stern.

But when I was 14 or 15, I would watch his tv show whenever he had a hot chick on...

I never got into stern...but I used to eat up Grease man in DC in the late 80s when I worked there.
Rick and Bubba used to get me going too.

Howard Stern's Political Donations:
Jose E. Serrano (Democrat)
Gary L Ackerman (Demcorat)
John Hagelin (NLP)
The Donation to Hagelin was in 1992, the Democrats were in 2005. That he donated to a Libertarian 16 years ago doesn't make him one now.
He ran as a Libertarian for governor of New York, but that was never more than a publicity ploy and neither major party would have him.
He calld for his listeners to vote for John Kerry.
He apparently liked Ron Paul. However, so did many liberals.
He is libertarian as far as his personal life goes. Keep the government out of HIS life. To hell with the rest of us.
That's not libertarian, that's just selfish.

The problem with shock jocks is that they have to keep pushing the envelope.
Eventually, they do so until they fall off a cliff.
Doesn't mean we should praise them for it.
Frankly, if the issue is with Dobson not being a 'person of character' for this left wing group, perhaps they could explain what positive character traits howard stern has that Dobson does not.
Calls to "Show me your boobs" and "Hey, laugh at the retarded guy" are not positive character traits.

I don't agree with him on the issue of homosexuality and probably a myriad other issues. However, according to the Radio Hall of Fame website, the criteria for enshrinement is as follows:
The only National Radio Hall of Fame honors the pioneers who have shaped the medium since its infancy, as well as contemporary talents from the diverse programming formats of today.
It appears to me that Dobson qualifies.

Just voted for Dr. Dobson...thanks for the tip. I am so very tired of listening to the verbal attacks on Christian leaders like Dr. Dobson. It is typical that liberals are not 'tolerant' of those who disagree with their views... not too 'progressive' and open-minded is it?
Yesterday, I was in my old car that only gets one station these days and I heard Dr. Dean Edell. He was in the middle of a cynical jab at the Catholic Church and I just shut the damn thing off. I am not Roman Catholic, but I respect the church and feel Christians should stick together these days. Wonder if Dean Edell dares to go after the Muslim religion....doubt it.

THe far left can not handle that he speaks the truth about the filth and disgust that is the homosexual lifestyle.
