This last offensive has been a lesson in Peace through Strength. To reach this point the Sri Lankans increased their forces to gain a 20:1 ratio against the rebels.

Kudos to them also for ignoring the calls from the UN for a cease fire in recent weeks. Sometimes it is better to inflict great pain all at once in a concentrated area instead of allowing the bad guys get away in the name of humanitarian relief, which in turn results in dragging the conflict on longer and longer.

Finally, although the government/rebel roles are reversed, the cornering of the LTTE while cutting off their sea-based resupply sources has a Yorktown feel to it. That works for me.

I still think the biggest mistake that Reagan made was pressuring the Israelis to stop when they had the entire membership of the PLO bottled up in a couple of buildings in Beirut and could have taken them out to the last man, including Arafat.

anyone else see this TV ad going around for WWW.LETSACTNOW.ORG – I’m certainly not going to bother to visit the site, but the ad goes on about “What you put on your Plate effects us all” and “How your Food choices effect Global Warming” …. No doubt an attack on the Beef industry, someone is always coming up with a way to attack the Beef industry and they cash in on the Global WARMING paranoia…..

The previous low for this part of Tennessee for May 18 was 33 back in ’73. How did you miss this, Al? We call it blackberry winter around here, and it seems like it happens every year. Come to think of it, seems like “climate change” happens every year about this time and again in late September.
