there is no leadership from Sacramento, and the local authorities are the only ones who can actually get things done…meanwhile they are too busy trying to figure out which account can be borrowed (raided) against next for their next spending bill.

I thought CA, or was it just some cities, had something in place PROHIBITING these checks and/or cooperating with Federal Authorities in any way…. So what do they intend to do once they ID some Illegals, not as if HSA/ICE is going to do anything to help – Nappy has made it very clear they intend to protect Illegals.

Look, the Republicans have barely more than 1/3rd of the CA House and Senate. If they introduced a bill at the state level, the Democrats will shoot it down and demagogue the Republicans as anti-Hispanic stormtroopers who want to tear families apart, take fathers away from their children, and other “women and minorities hurt” stuff that will kill all momentum.

So what’s happening is that since action is blocked at the state level, then it’s up to the local authorities/grassroots level to take action. The media initially may attack the first localities, unless by some miracle they see logic in this. But if enough local authorities follow suit, then that will start to turn the tide of public and media opinion, and then when enough pressure comes to bear, the state legislature will follow suit.

In other words, this is going to have to be a model for grassroots bottom up activism, just like what the tea parties are about – and what we want to do with the 2010 primaries – make the leader listen and follow the people.
