Why should a company try to make money by pleasing consumers, when it sees sucking on the government teat as a surer road to higher profits? But to do that, the company needs to elect the kind of politicians who will pass laws to guarantee your profits in return for “appropriate” considerations and an adequate fig leaf.

However hard Tom Delay tried to play that game, selling out the public trust for corporate sleazebags’ political favors, there’s no way Republicans can ever play that game as well as Democrats. I doubt that GE could have gotten the law banning incandescent lightbulbs even with the last Republican Congress (though Dubya did sign the overall bill). Without flourescent bulbs banned, the market will be limited for years to an oligopoly of GE and a few others holding patents on toxic mercury bulbs. So GE’s profitability depends on keeping Democrats in power.

It’s a valid story by any standard and it proves that GE, along with any other company or union that has collaborated with Domestic Enemy Number One, must be destroyed.

Do you really think Fox or NBC are doing anything more than selling advertising targetted at different audience demographics? The decline of GE revenue is largely due to their financial services division, which has gotten dragged down in the economic meltdown. The rest of their company includes some of the last actual American manufacturing left in a country that seems to have decided you can be a super power by selling fast food to each other.

they are probably a mix. GE and MSDNC by extension do not care about ratings this is bigger then some tv advertisement for them this is about HUGE profits in the multi-billions if Cap & Tax is passed. They have literally gone ALL IN on Obama from the beginning because he has railed on this Cap & Tax and promised passage. What kills me is the leftists who supposedly hate “big” business not giving one whit about this ULTIMATE shake-down of the American public to pay one company! Where are all the “anarchists” who protest the IMF? I guess to be an anarchist is to be STUPID when the obvious is staring you in the face.

I’ve mentioned GE in passing before but have never written up anything like this. Simply awesome and one of the reasons I laugh every time a liberal demonizes any corporation.

The Democrats are the party of the rich and, in reality, always have been.
