Hiding in Plain Sight for 31 years in Happy Valley

This guy Sandusky is in the same class or league as Jeffrey Dahmer or John Gacy. Dahmer and Gacy’s victims were a little older, but the pattern is pretty much the same. So far there is no evidence that Sandusky dispatched any of his victims, but because the authorities are having a difficult time finding Victim #2 who was approximately 10 years old at the time of the rape in 2002, the authorities have to start looking for bodies. The State Attorney isn’t going to tell us about the search for bodies, yet.

Victim #2 shouldn’t be this hard to find, if he is alive. If the rape happened in 2002 and the investigation began in 2008, that would have made the child 16 or 17 years old at the time. A predator put in the position of being undeniably caught while naked and in the act by an adult eye witness and allowed to leave the scene of the crime(in FL, a Capital Crime) with the victim, is thinking, “How do I stop this victim from talking. There is only one way. “

Crimes against children investigators have the same kind of triage system as an EMT. If an EMT is confronted with an injured person who is bleeding and has a compound fracture, but is not breathing, the EMT opens the airway and gets the breathing going before anything else, because if he doesn’t the patient dies. The other trauma can wait. When faced with an accusation like this, child investigators triage to the child. Protect the child first and move to the predator second. Find the child and protect the child. The investigation into whether the accusation is true, can wait.

Disadvantaged children normally come from single parent impoverished homes. This family probably wouldn’t be very mobile. Surely, the Sandusky predator’s nest, the Second Mile, would have had to keep good records on the children in their charge. They should even have photographs of the boys that McQueary could look at to determine the identity of the boy. Many of these programs, at the very least, take group or “team” photos of the children. Sandusky obtained his prey from the Penn State camp where 2nd Mile children came in the summer. Surely there are group photos of these camp attendees.

His lawyer, meekly and not very vociferously, said that his client is maintaining his innocence. This is lawyer speak for “my client says he’s innocent,… I’m not saying he’s innocent”. But, questions the press should be asking the lawyer assuming he believes his client is innocent are over the last three years, 1) has your client been talking to authorities or remained silent 2) did he reveal the identity of Victim #2 3) did he produce any pictures of Victim #2 4)is he denying the existence of Victim #2 5) did he allow authorities to search his computers, home and cars and did he willingly give a DNA sample 5) are you also representing his wife, Dorothy. 6) Did he testify to the Grand Jury and if he is innocent, why not?

Sandusky started the predator’s nest in 1977, so that gives him 31 years of access to his prey. Saying that he abused 3 to 4 children per year that would mean that there could be nearly 100 victims.

Something else for sure. Sandusky has trophies. Probably videos and pictures of sexual activity with these children that he uses for self gratification. The authorities may already have been looking for the trophies without success, but there is one person other than Sandusky who knows where the trophies are and that is his wife. Authorities should have been looking for storage facilities, vacation homes, hunting cabins and anywhere the predator has been to try to find the trophies. Someone like him, doesn’t destroy the trophies even when under investigation. The trophies are his most valuable possession. He probably doesn’t want to be too far detached from his “Precious”, so the videos are probably somewhere in the house. The wife knows where.

If you think it’s important not to quickly judge this guy, read the grand jury report http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/Presentment.pdf, first.

OWS, “what are we fighting for?”.

This protest thing about the evils of capitalism has been going on since, well… capitalism. Properly defined as the production of goods and services through the ownership of private property, capitalism, is a relatively new concept in the history of mankind, but has produced the greatest results and prosperity of any society or economy that has existed since the Cro-Magnon man fought with the dinosaurs. Actually, dinosaurs preceded and disappeared years before the existence of mankind , but most of the OWS protesters probably don’t know that.

Every time I witness one of these anti-business kinds of protests, I think about the movie, The Edukators. This is a German made movie with English subtitles and the plot involves these 20 something anarchists who break into rich peoples’ homes and re-arrange the furniture and leave. They do this to make the “capitalists” uneasy so that they fear about their wealth. Inevitably, one of the homeowners catches them in the act and the Edukators take him hostage. They drive him to a rural location to a cabin that a relative owns. The Edukators get into a discussion with the CEO billionaire and they find out that he was once like them living in a commune protesting social injustice, but he got married and had kids so he had to go to work to provide for his family. One thing led to another and his business grew to the point where he began employing 30K people and became very wealthy on paper.

So the Edukators ask him, “Well if you feel this way, like we do, about social injustice and the concentration of wealth with the few, why don’t you just sell everything and give it away to the poor? “ And the CEO, thinks about this for a minute and says, “Yes, I could do that. BUT I COULD ONLY DO THAT ONCE.” “If I maintain my business, keep it going, keep selling and keep planning, I can give jobs to 30K or more people over and over and over.“

The point of the whole discussion was, I think, to point out, that 1) the business guy was actually a pretty good fellow and appeared more than human to the kids 2) he wasn’t really that much different from the Edukators, he just was a successful business owner 3) the CEO was able to bring the group around somewhat to his way of thinking 4) the Edukators all admitted that they really didn’t know how business worked or how “capitalism” really works.

Personally, I hope this OWS thing goes on for a long time. And I hope that the MSM keeps bringing up the compare and contrast thing about OWS and the Tea Party movement. Because there is one factor that no one in the MSM is bringing up about the main difference between the two movements. That factor is that everyone in the Tea Party movement is registered to vote.

How come Republicans get better results?

The Florida legislature was controlled by Democrats from the end of the Civil War (1867) until 1995. Since 1995, the GOP has kept and built majorities in both the house and the senate in the Florida legislature. From the mid to late 80’s and into the early 1990’s, we had a serious, if not crisis stage violent crime problem.

One of the main reasons for this problem was the drug trade. But the other main reason was policies that the Democrats had regarding how long a violent criminal stayed in prison. Our correctional system allowed for 1 day good time(didn’t even need good behavior) for every day in, and also a complicated system of “gain” time. A murderer who was sentenced to say 20 years could have been released in about 5 years. Many of these offenders got out and proceeded to re-offend and usually killed somebody else.

The GOP,as a party, was 40/60 in the minority promised the electorate that they would change the laws and make sure that violent offenders served at least 85% of their sentences. The voters put Republicans in charge of the legislature in 1995 and the governor’s office after 1998. Legislators kept their promise and since then violent crime rates have plummeted dramatically. Liberals didn’t agree with the policies, but the results were undeniable.

Now comes a story about the success of educational reforms put in place by JEB, governor of FL from 1999-2007.

“Governor Bush has been at the forefront of education reform,” said Michael W. Grebe, president of the Bradley Foundation, which has donated generously to education reform projects, while honoring Jeb Bush earlier this year. “During his administration and since, Florida students have made incredible gains.”

Educational successes there were tangible, and measurable, and they have been copied by several other states.
– In 1998, Florida’s fourth-graders scored at the bottom nationally in NAEP scores in reading and math. By 2009, they had scored above the national average in both categories.
– Florida’s fourth-grade Hispanic students equaled or surpassed the performance of all students in 31 states.
– Fourth-grade African American students in Florida outperform African American students in all but three states in NAEP math tests.
– Low-income Florida elementary school students of all races rank near the top nationally in math.

(Not to mention 5 years of National Champions in College Football from FL schools and 2 years of National Champions in College Basketball during Jeb’s governorship)

If you want results that can be measured, stick with Republicans, if you want mindless platitudes, go with the other side.

Tautology

This is a good word it means:
needless repetition of an idea, especially in words other than those of the immediate context, without imparting additional force or clearness

Barack Hoover Obama and his cheerleaders on the left repeat this mantra over and over, more taxes on millionaires and billionaires. But what about clearness:

In other words, if you favor raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires what is your number and what do you want to do with the money that is raised?

This is why polls indicating respondents overwhelming support higher taxes on millionaires and billionaires are irrelevant.

A much better poll would be to poll the US Senate to see if they believe in taxing the rich the way BHO wants to tax the rich. Right now the poll would be about 60% against and 40% in favor. Rich, at present, meaning anyone filing an income tax return with more than 200K of adjusted gross income or is it just income from W-2, or is it income from Schedule C or interest or capital gains or from retirement accounts. “Let me be clear”, which is one of the President’s favorite speech lines is being lost here.

This would be a much more relevant poll than to ask anyone who would talk to you on the phone, if they favored taxing people other than themselves.

New game show, Winner Take All

Game Host: Ok contestants, this is how the game works!! You can either choose to Play it Safe or you can go for the gusto and choose Winner Take All. Ok, Mr. Florida, if you choose to roll the dice, flip the coin, or go for it all, you get 29 electoral votes. But if you decide to Play it Safe, you get 22 guaranteed electoral votes without gambling. Yes, there’s a question from the contestant:

Mr. Florida: “What do I get if I go for the Winner Take All and I don’t win”

Game Host: Well, audience, you can answer that question, What is it? A BIG FAT ZERO. Right, you get nothing.

Mr. Florida: So, if I play it safe, I get a for sure 22, and if I gamble it and risk it all I only get another 7 for my trouble, but I could end up with zero?

Game Host: That’s right Mr. Florida.

Mr. Florida: I’ll take the 22. Only a moron would choose the Winner Take All.

Game Host: And there you have it audience another successful round of Winner Take All, where if you Play it Safe, everyone wins.

If Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida (all controlled by (R) legislatures and Governor) vote to Play it Safe and apportion their electoral votes by congressional district, Game Over, Republican walks into the WH in January 2013.
I don’t want to hear any excuses if we have to suffer through another 4 years of the current schlemiel.

Meaningless poll number two

A poll that says that only 15% of respondents approve of the job Congress is doing is fairly meaningless. How many people reading this post approve of the job Maxine Waters is doing? Probably zero. However, in Maxine’s District, she won re-election in 2010 with 79% of the vote. Nancy Pelosi had a national approval rating in 2010 of 16%, she won re-election in her District by 80% of the vote. Charlie Rangel was under ethics violations and tossed out of his chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee and was re-elected with 80% of the vote in his District. What people think of Congress is fairly meaningless because voters don’t vote for Congress. They vote for their representative and their Senator.

When asked if the respondent approves of the job their Congressperson is doing, the answer is usually over 50%, if the representative has a chance of being re-elected. Even now, when looking at Charlie Cook’s House ratings chart, I can count a worse case scenario of 13 GOP House members losing elections, but gaining 8 seats due to re-districting and retirements, with only a net loss of 5 seats. So, how can this poll be relevant to the re-election chances of Barry O’bama?

Is the left totally losing it, over the tea party or is it just my imagination?

Typically, despots, tyrants, dictators and groups that seek to take power over others through force need to have an evil enemy or target group that is the reason for all the ills of their current society. Capitalists have perennially been a favorite target group. Adolf Hitler used the communists and the Jews as the groups that were causing all of the hardships that the German people were experiencing in the late 20’s and early 30’s. The Nazi party in Germany in 1928 was just a small group of inconsequential nobodies who took over the government by 1933. The Nazi party propaganda hammered the notion that if it weren’t for the Jews and the communists, everything in Germany would be peaches and roses.

Now the 21st century enemy has been defined. And that enemy is the TEA PARTY. Forget the fact that the Tea Party is not really a party at all and just a bunch of ideas and beliefs shared by quite a few people who favor limited government, balanced budgets and just want to be left alone. The TEA PARTY has become the Juden of 2011-2012. Probably, if Mr. Hoffa and Mr. Biden and Mr. Obama had their way, they would try to identify all members of the Tea party and require them to wear arm bands signifying their membership. Or maybe they could just require all citizens to report to their nearest federal government office of Homeland Security and declare if they are members of the tea party or at least rat out a neighbor who is a member of the tea party. Certainly, they could at least come up with a form that all air travelers have to fill out indicating whether they are members of the tea party and this information could be entered into the appropriate data base.

Ultimately, they would have to have the Endlosung der Teapartyfrag (final solution of the Tea Party question), but only after convincing the majority of Americans that unemployment, the banking crisis, the 14 trillion dollar deficits, sex without condoms, and low test scores are all the fault of the Tea Party even though the modern day Tea Party notion has only been around for about 16 or so months.

Compare Obama’s record to a head coach in the NFL

Obama’s record 0-16

Home prices have dropped more since Obama’s inauguration, on a percentage basis, than during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

2011 will be the worst year for new home sales in 50 years

SS COLA 2010/zero 2011/zero 2012/1.2 percent

UE rate has averaged 9.2 percent since inauguration, first 9 percent, three year run since the Great Depression

Going on 5 trillion added to the National Debt

Individuals on food stamps 47 million, a US record

Gasoline prices have doubled since inauguration

2 million less people working since the enactment of the ARRA, ak “The Stimulus”.

Has failed to remove any troops from Iraq or Afghanistan

Guantanamo detention center still open

2008 promised to create 5 million well-paying green jobs, not sure where those are

63 Democrats in the House and 6 in Senate lost seats in 2010 due to BHO policies

Largest increase of SS Disability applications in history

58% of Americans want Obamacare repealed

Consumer confidence a record low

Sued Boeing for creating 1000 jobs in South Carolina

The consensus is that BHO is a good man: honest, smart, and well-meaning. In the history of the NFL, there have been 448 head coaches. How many of them were good, honest, smart and well-meaning? Probably most of them. Coaches say that they are hired to be fired. That is because there is really only one criteria for keeping the head coaching job in the NFL and it doesn’t include being honest, smart, or well-meaning with good intentions. And head coaches, like Bill Belichik and Vince Lombardi, never blamed their predecessors for dealing them a bad hand.

Meaningless poll number one

A poll saying 70% in favor of a tax hike on people who earn 200K or more per year is meaningless.  First, I would think that 95% of respondents would be in favor because less than 5% of tax returns have earned income more than 200K. Anyone is in favor of tax increase on someone else. If you don’t think that the tax increase is going to affect you, why wouldn’t you be in favor of it?  The result of this poll indicates to me that there are at least 25% of the respondents believing that the tax increase will affect them negatively even though they don’t have to pay it.

Warren Buffet says he is in favor of higher taxes on millionaires and billionaires. Why? Because it doesn’t affect him. Warren Buffet could borrow 1 million per year at 3% (interest only) for his personal and family expenses, do that for the next 10 years and then die. How much tax did he pay? None. Because he didn’t earn any income and he didn’t realize any capital gains. When he dies his estate pays off his debts and there is no cap gains tax after death (in this case 10 million is less than 1/10 of 1 percent of his estate) and pays the estate taxes, but he would have paid those anyway and what does he care about that, he is dead.

Rich people like this, can avoid paying income and capital gains taxes for long, long periods of time. Politicians need to think that just because they raise the tax rates on these people that they are actually going to get any more money. This is not where the real money is and they all know it, the real money has always been with the middle class, the income earners who are standing targets. This is one reason why conservatives are against tax increases because inevitably the average joe is the one stuck with the bill. If BHO got the tax increase he wants on the 200K earners and above, the take is only 70B a year or 6B a month. That will pay the deficit for less than 2 days per month.

Oh, please not more shovel ready jobs again

The (D)s are saying that the President needs to propose something really big to get people back to work.  Excuse me, but isn’t 5 trillion a pretty big stimulus? Over the last 3 years the Fed has pumped about 2 trillion of paper money into the system, there was 700 B in TARP, there was 874B in ARRA, and the (D)’s also increased fed spending from 20% GDP to 25% GDP. What did we get? A Whole lot of Debt and a lot of inflation and 2 million jobs lost since the ARRA was signed. If you don’t believe the inflation number just look at these commodity prices since BHO inauguration:

Wool up 250%

Coffee up 105%

Copper up 300%

Gasoline up 110%

Jet Fuel up 105%

Beef up 68%

Corn up 78%

Remember what Milton Friedman said, “Inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon” One of the reasons Bernanke has cringed over a QEIII is that he is afraid that this thing could get away from them and it could go Weimar on us. We can’t continue to borrow 130B a month. We just can’t and that’s all there is to it.
