The New Health Care Reform Law

Why hasn’t anyone stepped up to explain the content of the new health care reform law and what it will mean to the various aspects of our society?  Personally, I have neither the time nor the inclination to try to sort through the hundreds of pages of legalese gobbledy-gook trying to sort everything out and what it means to me.  And, I’d be willing to bet there are a heckuva lot of other Americans who share my interest, too.

What I see coming out of the general media is little more than Paparazzi-like reporting that seems more to play on the fears of people than it is to explain the various aspects of the program.  Too, it’s questionable as to what the true motives of the news media are, and whether or not the individual reports will be accurate or biased.

So, the question now becomes “Who do we believe”?

I thinks to myself

tecash (Diary) Wednesday, April 7th at 6:15PM EST (link)

you are one of those fringe folks who would much rather give credence to anyone with a conspiracy theory rather than any other source. I say this as your diaries seem to be against any formal orginization is general rather than specific ones who have been known to fabricate or not be as honest as they should.

Only the weak accept abuse, the strong give it back 10 fold. I may not have much in this life, but I do have a good eye, steady aim, and ample strength to pull a trigger. Bring your abuse on. I love this country, love the people in this country, and respect the right to life. But if you desire to forfeit your right to live, threaten my rights, my dignity, or myself or my families wellbeing and I will be more than happy to help you end your life with plenty of Vitamin bullet.

On the Outside

Let’s just say that I’m very careful with what I see, read or hear. This often leaves me with questions I cannot otherwise have answered. Not all sources of information are reliable, and thus I question most.

But it is up to me to ascertain what answers I receive are honest and to the point, or are being generated for no other reason than to sway my judgment. How else am I to learn?

And One More Thing ...

… can you answer the questions I presented in the original post? I’m still trying to learn what is in the new Health Care Reform legislation and how it will affect me. I ask in lieu of having to try to read the entire package and try to sort out all that legaleze mumbo-jumbo on my own. It leaves too much margin for error.

Its going to affect you in every way possible.

I will try to keep this as short as possible and give you enough info to start researching it better for yourself. If you have questions, feel free to message me.

First, you have to remember nothing is free. That idea is just ludicrous.

Second before I get into some of the problems, remember this. The plan was modeled on the Canadian plan. I lived in canada for years and was subjected to the whole thing. Some of the major issues with it was: No choice in doctor. need to see your doc, get in line which may take you from 3 months to a year to see him/her. Need approval from politicians and beurocrats to get doctor ordered care, etc. The list could go on and on. Many of us would simply skip the “free” crap and go to Michigan to get care out of our own pockets so we could get good care. There was a lady in Canada, age war around 45, who applied to see her doc. Doctor did some test and decided it was possible she had breast cancer. He ordered further tests. Had she been here, they would have been done within a week, but there she was denied the tests. She was sent back to her doc, who again ordered the tests. By the time the approval was given she was dead from breast cancer. The Government excused this as oversight, not intent.

This plan and its issues:

Enourmous cost that can not be sustained by the government. They try to fool you into believeing cost will be 1 billion plus over 10 years, but much of this does not take into account that for the first 6 years, little to no care is given, but taxes are being collected. After the program goes into effect, this delay and coolect tax option will not excist. Most believe that within 5 years of the program starting, many companies will simply drop insurance for their employees, pay the fine for doing so which will be cheaper than the cost of providing insurance, adding millions to the government insurance raising the cost by 3 times the current cost. This WILL bankrupt the country within years. They have also not included illegals in the cost claiming they are not eligable for coverage, yet they mandate care mustbe given to all at the hospital. This adds over 12 million to the cost and these numbers grow every day. Within a few years they will offer coverage to the illegals.

Our gov brings in a little over 3 trillion a year in revenue. The current cost is expected to use up 1/6 of that. We already operate in the red every year, now add on another 1/2 trillion a year which will go up drastically. All taxes will go up 50% within a few years. Can you affiord that? But they must go up to somewhat afford this monstrosity.

Next, mandated coverage or fines. They have already admitted the cost will be higher per person to buy coverage that what it is to buy private insurance at this point. Now if 50 million can not afford it now, how will they afford to buy a more expensive government forced insurance? They wont be able too. Now they get fined up to 750 a month there was no coverage. Dont pay the fine, you face seizure of assets, income returns, or even jail especially if you fail to buy your child coverage.

Restricted care and restricted access to choice of doctor. A government panel will decide who you see and what care is allowed to be given. This is why you hear about death panels. As cost rise and rise, the government will decide who gets care and will use formulas to decide who deserves care. 21 college student who is fit, care given. 65, blue collar worker in the lower middle income bracket who has some medical issues, no care given as the cost is too high and he is too old. He is not benefit to the rest, so care is denied. They claim this is bullshit, but in every single socialized medical care country, this is the norm not the exception. Do we really believe our government will be the shining light exception, no!

Loss of top doctors. This has happened in every country that imposed universal health care with no exceptions. It will happen here and already tons of doctors have made it clear they will shut down on day one the bill goes into affect.

Your taxes go to pay for Abortion, liposuction, face lifts, penis enhancements, etc. Makes you happy to know that right, but you will most likely not qualify for any of those procedures. Unless of course you decide to kill a baby and you are 100% approved.

Within a few years you will see a push for euthanasia. Now they claim this will not happen, but it will. It is being pushed in almost every other UHC country and it will pass. The two biggest supporters of our bill is Amnesty International and the APA both who are big supporters of “right to die.” Now they claim it would only be allowed if it was a personal choice made by the patient, but we are not stupid. They ask for an inch and take a mileand always live on a slippery slope. It will pass in this country soon, if we do not stand up against this HC bill, and it will lead to not only patient choice, but a panel decision guaranteed. To believe otherwise shows extreme ignorance.

There are other issues at hand such as the violation of our constitution not only in the passing of the bill, but also the mandate to get coverage. If nothing else applied, this is enough. Our government is not above the constitution, it is subject to it and they broke it not only in the passing of the bill but the mandate also.

I lived in Canada under their HC laws, saw the obsurdity of it and the BS red tape. I also am in Europe quite often and am quite familiar with their bills and HC. It is ineffective, absurd, and a huge cost. Funny thing is, their HC has been failing for years and we in the USA have been financially propping up their HC for years. Who will prop us up……..no one!

There are a ton of issues with this bill, look into it and you will join the millions who are against it, In fact you will joing the over 60% of this country against it. Sad to say the majority of people who support this bill are the very ones who are already leeches on our society whose every need is met with social programs and our tax dollars. Why would they not want us to pay for yet one more thing for them and that should scare you.

No one is entitled to HC, no one. As sad as it may be, if you can not afford a procedure, you do not deserve to get it. It may cost you your life because you can not afford it, but that is life. We all die, but you should not live on the backs of others.

One more thing. There is a need for some change. One example would be stopping insurance companies from dropping a client who has paid their premium for years, gets a disease, needs expensive care, but is dropped. This is immoral. There are other areas that need change such as allowing us to shop over state lines for coverage which would force competition bringing down cost. But the idiots we have in power have mandated that insurance companies, who are for profit companies, to accept anyone as a client even if they have a pre excisting condition at no higher a cost than anyone else. This would mean a fat person who has heart issues would have to be covered even if he has never paid a dime towards coverage and is within a few months of dying. This will break every insurance company out there which will mean nearly everyone will be under the government plan, just as they plan, and will cost trillions upon trillion which we CANNOT afford.

Let me give an example of what I mean.

A person has AIDS. They have been paying for coverage for years then get the disease. The insurance company should not be allowed to drop them no matter the cost as long as the premiums continue to be paid. All insurance companies expect this and keep so much funds set aside for this very type of thing. They know about 10% of their clients will get sick and cost alot of money, but they can plan for it.

Under obamas plan, same guy but has never had insurance or did not have insurance at the time he got sick. Now insurance companies would be forced to accept him at the same cost they charge me as a healthy young adult. Lets say for sake of argument he gets the insurance on day one he finds out he is sick. His life expectancy would be around 10 years. It would cost the insurance company well over 2 million to pay for his care. Now lets say he pays the same as I do for coverage which would be 276 a month. This means he would pay the insurance company 33120 over the course of his disease causing a net loss to the insurance of around 1966880. Now lets multiply that times hundreds of thousands……..see what it will do to the insurance companies. All will be broke withing a few years making it to where everyone has to get government coverage. As soon as this happenes the cost to the government will be so high they will have to start refusing coverage causing folks to die much quicker, will force them to allow death panels or euthanasia, and will make to where even our much higher taxes do not come near to covering the cost, so they go up even more. The next step would be to limit how much can be charged by doctors and hospitals, which will break them and cause many of the best doctors and hospitals to close their doors.

This bill is pure evil and is the first step to total government control, total government dependancy, and our eventual bankruptcy.

Only the weak accept abuse, the strong give it back 10 fold. I may not have much in this life, but I do have a good eye, steady aim, and ample strength to pull a trigger. Bring your abuse on. I love this country, love the people in this country, and respect the right to life. My typing and spelling went to crap, please excuse!

Experience

southeasttexas (Diary) Tuesday, April 20th at 4:10AM EST (link)

I’ve seen first hand the tricks the health insurance industry plays on policy holders. A number of years ago, a couple of aneurysms were found inside my head. The one in the front could be treated using conventional means, but the one in back (on the spinal cord) was a whole different matter. using the same basic procedure, there was a very good chance I would not have survived, or would have become vegetative. However, at the same time, an experimental procedure was being introduced, and I was eligible to be a part of it. There would be absolutely no cost to my health care provider other than the costs associated with me being in a hospital room (bed pan, linens, etc.). The insurer refused to allow me the treatment, and my wife had to fight with them for nearly ten days before finally giving in, releasing the insurance company of liability and picking up the tab ourselves.

Without saying much more, everything worked out fine, I’ve not had any complications, and the procedure has since been approved for treatment of this problem. Had I gone the way demanded by the insurer, I would either be dead or nothing more than a hunk of meat and skin.

This is what I fear most as I grow older. Some brick-head on a panel in DC, or some doctor who may not even be a real doctor, dictating terms which could result in my demise well before the good Lord really wants me.
