Jingle, jangle---Charlie Rangel. Money in the coffer is what the islands offer.
When and where do the lobbying and special interests ever end?
And, no one more perhaps, than this oligarchal Congressman, still continue
to fill up their campaign treasure chests, while at the same time be under
House scrutiny for tax evasion 'wrongdoings'.
As a blog commentator remarked yesterday, Mr. Rangel must own some
really good secrets on many members of Congress, including Ms. Pelosi,
who refuses to properly pursue the investigations relevant to Mr. Rangel.
And so people like this are allowed to go on 'representing' their
constituents and the country at large.
I just don't get it. Do you?

Do Puerto Ricans pay into the Medicare system? If they don't, then they shouldn't be getting Medicare benefits in the first place. Any one living in a Territory that does not pay taxes should not be eligible for any social services period! I for one am so sick of working and taking care of everybody in the world!

Of course, it will be blamed on the Rep. Governor of Puerto Rico (the first one the island's had for at least a decade), and it couldn't come at a worse time: he passed a bill to help with Puerto Rico's budget problems which, among other things, laid off lots of government (unionized) employees. Hopefully, he can win that battle, but I think it'll end up being more than he can handle.
