Well, at least Obama can likely take credit for creating or saving one job: that of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer. Once floundering, she is now enjoying a 55% approval rating and is likely to be re-elected. This is partially based on the fact that she, like many conservative women in the forefront these days, actually has a spine and is willing to speak out and tell it like it is. It is also partially based on President Obama’s own woeful incompetence, as epitomized in Jan Brewer’s new ad (via Hot Air):
A partial transcript reads as follows:
Two weeks ago I met with President Obama. He promised that we would get word from his administration on what they were going to do to secure the border. Well, we finally got the message… These signs!
These signs calling our desert an active drug and human smuggling area. These signs warning people of danger and telling them to stay away.
We’re 80 miles away from the border and only 30 miles away from Arizona’s capital. This is an outrage!
Washington says our border is as safe as it has ever been. Does this look safe to you?
What is our country coming to? We will not surrender any part of Arizona. We need to stand up and demand action!
Washington is broken Mr. President. Do your job! Secure our borders! Arizona and the nation are waiting!
President Obama tried to avoid speaking with Governor Brewer altogether at first, and when he finally did so, he lied. Which isn’t really surprising. You can tell when he’s lying because his lips are moving. He promised to address the issue in detail within two weeks — more than three weeks ago. All Governor Brewer has received is the deafening sound of crickets.
And, you know, sternly worded signs. That actually demonize Arizona and tacitly cede parts of it’s land, creating a no-man’s land. For Americans.
In addition, it now appears that the also incompetent Obama Justice Department plans to sue Arizona over their illegal immigration bill, which was necessitated primarily by the federal government’s failure to do it’s job. A job that President Obama is constitutionally mandated to perform. Topped off by the appointing of a Harold Hurtt, a man who has in the past sneered contemptuously at immigration laws, to a local and federal coordinator position at ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). The agency that is meant to enforce the very laws that Hurtt himself dismisses.
No big whoop to Obama. I suppose it doesn’t matter to him, since there aren’t many golf courses along Arizona’s border. Priorities!
Heck of a job, Barry. Heck of a job.

Great post Lori.
Not so sure on Brewer for VP
redtillimdead (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 1:40AM EST (link)She’s great on immigration but a fiscal disaster. She raised taxes a lot last year. However, Christie is great on fiscal issues. so that could balance out…

deano64 (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 2:28AM EST (link)a recession doesn’t impress me much and I don’t think it would for many conservatives but she did just that. Luckily for her immigration is getting all the press and it’s likely she will get re elected. On a side note she is standing about 15 miles or so from my house I believe. Sonoran Desert National Monument I’m guessing. VP? No thanks.

fpete13527 (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 8:59AM EST (link)Brewer’s fiscal record is less than great. However, she is taking strong ACTION on at least one key issue. Strong action is something that most of the GOP Congress hasn’t the slightest clue about.
My true current pick is still Christie / Bachmann, but it is way too early. I’m looking for hard core conservative DEMONSTRATED action. I know that there are currently very few who fit this requirement.
Defending our borders is something the federal government actually does have a constitutional responsibility to do

Why is the Sign . . .
davey_sprocket Monday, June 28th at 8:26AM EST (link)addressed to the residents, tourists, and visitors of Arizona?? (“Hey, LOOK OUT! You’re heading into an occupied area!”)
Why is it not addressed to the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS??? (as in “KEEP OUT. All those desiring residency/entry into the U.S. must do so legally.”)
The sign could just as well have read:
“The next 80 miles of your state have been ceded to illegal immigrants, smugglers, and drug lords by the Federal Government. Any attempt to enforce existing immigration laws, or to reverse this acquiesence will be met with swift and decisive legal action, boycotts, demonization, and charges of raceism. Consider yourself warned.
President BHO”

tngal (Diary) Monday, June 28th at 9:16AM EST (link)On military bases you occasionally run onto a building or other piece of property that’s off limits. There are official signs urging you to keep away and non-smiling armed military police standing near the signs, making sure no one gets in.
I sense from the signs the only thing missing is ICE agents or national guard troops “protecting” that dangerous swath of no man’s land land (aka American soil) . I got no problem with ice or the guard coming in, just make sure the rifles are pointed in a southerly direction.
