Unprecedented, indeed. But, not surprising, given that our own President has done nothing but the same. I’m wondering if Calderon at least read the Arizona bill first, before demonizing an American state. That would actually be unprecedented, amongst our alleged leaders, at least.
President Obama, for once, forewent bowing. Not to worry, though! The Democrats in Congress picked up his slack and went one further. Standing ovations!
For a foreign leader bashing an American state. From our own House floor. (video after the jump)
Not only do the Democrats fail to figuratively stand up for America, but they literally stand up for and applaud those who seek to condemn it. Worse, it is condemnation from the foreign leader whose own country is a primary source of our illegal immigration issues. All compounded by the fact that Arizona was forced to try to deal with their immense problem on their own, since the weak-willed and spineless folks in attendance at the Joint Meeting of Congress refused to do so. You know, the very same ones who are breathlessly applauding and jumping to their feet in sycophantic grand-standing, including two, Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder, who have admitted to not reading the 16 page law. Which I’ve read and can comprehend. Granted, I’m no community organizer or an (alleged) lawyer, but still.
Allahpundit at Hot Air notes:
It’s a repulsive spectacle. And as bad as it is, it’s not even the most audacious bit of meddling that Calderon did today. Brace yourself for this.
On the gun question, Mr. Calderón said: “We have seized 75,000 guns and assault weapons in Mexico in the past three years, and more than 80 percent of those we have been able to trace came from the United States.”
He said it did not seem coincidental that violence in Mexico had begun to grow in 2006, not long after the weapons ban expired in the United States.
That’s right. WE are the source of Mexico’s problems, according to Calderon. If only we had weapons bans, Mexico would be free of crime and violence!
On the plus side, at least we can save some tax-payer cash. There is no longer a need for Obama to travel to commence apology tours. Now, he just invites the foreign leaders here where he apologizes and they bash.
From our House floor.
To cheers and ovations. Remember that, in November. Remember who cheered the bashing of an American state and the denigration of American citizens. For passing a law necessitated by the fact that the federal government themselves refused to act. Arizona is just doing the job the federal government doesn’t want to do.

The libtards believe that we are the problem, so if we apologize for our greatness, and emasculate ourselves militarily, everyone else will play nice with us. The Left in this country really do hate us, and if their actions allow the jihadi-fascists to destroy us, well that is okay, because we deserve it. We have got to get rid of these people, including like-minded bureaucrats, before their wish comes true.

In many places of the world, it is not surprising to witness brutal massacres by the government, or massacres that are clearly tolerated by the government.

A real AK goes for about $50.00 USD on the world market, and often has no markings of any kind with which to trace it. Even when minimally marked, it isn’t possible for law enforcement to actually trace the weapon. And then there are the weapons “lost” from the Mexican Army and various police forces. A semi-automatic clone in the US is anywhere from $400.00 to $1200.00 USD and has traceable serial numbers and paperwork. US handguns are more popular, they are often stolen, easily smuggled and generally are much better than the run of the mill ex-Comblock military handguns often found on the world market.

The Latino population has many strengths, including cohesive families and communities, a youthful population, a commitment to the health and welfare of their children, and a strong work ethic.
Yet, there is great reason for concern about Latino children, 92% of whom are U.S. citizens.
At the national level, they have low rates of on-time high school graduation (55%), a high percentage that lack health insurance (19%), and a disproportionately high risk for incarceration (one-in-six lifetime risk for Latino males) and obesity (41% for Latino and Black children).
If current trends continue, it is projected that 44% of all U.S. children living in poverty in 2030 will be Latino.

Later over Michelle’s homemade margarita’s (with ingredients and bartender flown in from Mexico), the two presidents share a good laugh.
As he tends to want his face on tv daily (at least once), this series will be the longest running in history, for when he is done with his first term, he will have starred in 1,460 episodes.

I cannot BELIEVE Republicans sat there and took this.
He is NOT our President, and the American people — represented by our Congressmen — had absolutely no obligation to listen to what Calderon had to say.
This is filthy, vile, disgusting — a humiliation for the American people.
We need our passports to walk into this jerks country, we need a roll of $20s in our pocket to bribe the federales to let us on our way — and this guy has the nerve to come into our country, stand in OUR CHAMBER and tell us what’s up in our country.
President Obama and Surrogates – you people are disgusting, vile, menacing, arrogant creatures. It’s a shame we have to call you American statesman.
You’ve no courtesy for the American people.
And there can be no racial profiling when you already have mechanisms in place for memebers of the community to report “suspicious activity” on one another.
The possibility of racial profiling among law enforcement is a moot point when you’re already encouraging and depending on the public to submit names, physical descriptions, details to the DHS.
The public can only take so much abuse. Sharpen your writing skills, because once we kick you out office, all that’ll be left of your careers willl be you trying to hock your “How I Tried to Destroy America” books straight out of the dollar bin at Half Price Books.
You jerks.

Think Bangkok. Hussein is absolutely the Prince of the fools who voted for him.
Meanwhile, Findlaw reports that six U.N. human rights experts say a new law on illegal immigration in Arizona could violate international standards that are binding in the U.S. The basic human rights regulations, signed by the U.S. and many other nations, include a rule against discrimination and one regarding the terms under which someone can be detained. Caldersone uses trickery
Rick_Caird Friday, May 21st at 7:24AM EST (link)Calderone claimed “..more than 80 percent of those we have been able to trace came from the United States”. But, he never says what percentage of those seized guns he is able too trace. You can be sure if it were a high number, say 90%, he would be telling us that “75% of the seized guns were from the US”.
So, reading between the lines, Calderone is actually telling us they can trace only a small proportion of the guns they have seized an the US has the best facilities for tracing guns.
Tricky those politicians. Expect the Democrats to think he said 80% of the guns come from the US. He did not.

New father on border relates when bandits broke in his door
ashland_avenue (Diary) Friday, May 21st at 10:08AM EST (link)In the attached piece, Arizona border resident Larry Vance describes in simple terms what’s wrong with border enforcement.
There are three types of folks who pass by his five acre homestead, Vance relates: hard working laborers, narco gang members, and outright burglars.
Common sense allows resdients to identify passersby. Laborers carry several changes of clothing, have calloused hands, and quietly ask at the doorway for water.
Narco traders avoid local homes.
Banditos tend to be teenaged or slightly older; they carry no changes of clothes and are transparent in their evil purposes. Just after the birth of his daughter several years ago, one broke down the Vances’ front door.
‘I was at the other end of the house, Vance relates; ‘I took the .22 semiautomatic and put two shots in him, another in the wall.’
For content distributed by American Public Media, it is remarkably objective. I was not in car long enough to hear other segment, but both are here:

The Rest of the Story
pirate55 (Diary) Friday, May 21st at 11:20AM EST (link)Questions for the left including the Attorney General and the Director of Homeland Security should include…………
1. How many outstanding felony arrest warrants exist in the United States
for Mexican citizens now believed to be in Mexico?
2. How many of those warrants are for acts of violence including murder?
3. Who is believed responsible for human trafficking of illegal Mexican and
Central American citizens into the United States?
4. How is the Republic of Mexico cooperating in the extradition of those
wanted on felony warrants and believed hiding in Mexico back to the
United States?
For an appropriate answer to Questions 1 and 2, just check with the City of Los Angeles, the City of Phoenix, and the City of El Paso to get a thumbnail idea. One can check as far north as Minnesota and Wisconsin to find such warrants.
The answer to question #3 can be simply answered as the “criminal element” of the Republic of Mexico.
And the answer to #4, now don’t be shocked, is that if investigations determine a person wanted for a felony is hiding in Mexico, very little if anything has been done to this point. Though we do have an extradition treaty with Mexico, prior to 2005, quite simply Mexico often refused to turn over those of its citizens facing the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole to jurisdictions in the United States.
This has improved somewhat, but one can’t ignore the severity of violent crime now being experienced in the Republic of Mexico and the inability to contain it there. Will we now be accused of exporting our “violent criminals” back to Mexico by the very fact they must flee the United States after committing crimes here.
We have our own criminal element to be greatly concerned about and that includes those among unlawful Mexican and Central American immigrants streaming across an unsecured Southern border.
And if you require any further proof, just ask those victimized or the family members of those murdered by someone who then fled back to Mexico to hide how they feel.

The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171…During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Further, the man who won election on the promise of ‘change’, told them that, unfortunately, the breathtaking change caused by this overload of information couldn’t be stopped. His speech seemed to imply that being exposed to all kinds of arguments is a BAD thing. That it might even threaten democracy. It’s a far cry from the time Americans treasured a ‘multiplicity of voices.’ That expansive variety of thought and expression guaranteed that somehow, some way, the truth would be heard. Apparently, that’s not what the Obama administration has in mind. In fact, in the financial reform bill, they’re seeking to put control of the internet in the hands of the Federal Trade Commission. Think about the almost total control of every aspect of our lives the government has gained through the misapplication of interstate commerce laws! That’s a chilling thought. Of course, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it Barry?

Jordan, a “moderate” Muslim nation, receives nearly $200 million annually in U.S. foreign aid, but votes against America at the U.N. 71 percent of the time. Pakistan votes 75 percent of the time against the U.S. at the U.N. while pocketing nearly $7 million annually in foreign aid (in addition to the money it gets to supposedly fight al-Qaida). Barack Obama is currently hiding his anti-Israel views in order to get elected, according to a well-known anti-Israel activist. The activist, Ali Abunimah, claimed to know Obama well and to have met him on numerous occasions at pro-Palestinian events in Chicago. In an article he penned for the anti-Israeli website Electronic Intifada, Abunimah wrote: “The last time I spoke to Obama was in the winter of 2004 at a gathering in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. He was in the midst of a primary campaign to secure the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate seat he now occupies. But at that time polls showed him trailing. “As he came in from the cold and took off his coat, I went up to greet him. He responded warmly, and volunteered, ‘Hey, I’m sorry I haven’t said more about Palestine right now, but we are in a tough primary race. I’m hoping when things calm down I can be more up front.’ He referred to my activism, including columns I was contributing to the The Chicago Tribune critical of Israeli and US policy [and said:] ‘Keep up the good work!’” The Arab-American activist went on to say: “In 2000, when Obama unsuccessfully ran for Congress I heard him speak at a campaign fundraiser hosted by a University of Chicago professor. On that occasion and others Obama was forthright in his criticism of US policy and his call for an even-handed approach to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.” “Obama’s about-face is not surprising,” Abunimah wrote. “He is merely doing what he thinks is necessary to get elected and he will continue doing it as long as it keeps him in power.”
Why Barry hates Israel
callmeroy Friday, May 21st at 12:49PM EST (link)Martin Indyk, a former U.S. Ambassador to Israel and current foreign policy advisor to Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, continued the Administration’s arrogant handling of our ally. He told Israel Army Radio that the tiny nation needs to fall in line with American foreign policy or suffer the consequences. Among other threats, he said, “If you need the United States, then you need to take account of America’s interests.” He said that Mr. Netanyahu has a very simple choice: “Take on the President of the United States, or take on his right wing.” Indyk knows that if Netanyahu heeds the President’s demands, the right wing parties in his fragile coalition will walk. If they walk, the Israeli government will collapse — which is precisely what Obama and Clinton want. That way, Netanyahu will be forced to accept the Kadima party into his coalition and give the chronic appeaser, Tzipi Livni, a major role in the government. Goodbye, Israeli sovereignty. Hello, national suicide.

On “day one” The Calderon goes home.
1. Calderon returns to Mexico and immediately turns up the pressure on the US AZ border. Thousands of Latinos turn into tens of thousands crossing our borders.
2. This is allowed to run into early fall.
3. Calderon then tells BHO that he has no choice but to protect his countrymen from the foul and nefarious laws and people of Arizona.
4. Obama “understands” and Mexican troops cross our borders to ‘protect’ their citizens from the likes of Sheriff Joe Arpio.
5. The “proverbial lid” comes off in most Urban centers throughout the US. Aided and abetted by the “defunct” ACORN, SEIU and other Union and urban thugacracies.
6.Basic safety and police and fire capabilities are stressed way beyond their already depleted limits.

Nowhere near 80%...

Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Attorney General Eric Holder, and the mainstream media often inflate the 80 percent figure to 90 percent.
From The Obama Timeline, “…according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco, about 17 per cent of weapons recovered from Mexican crime scenes come from the United States. Other black market weapons get into Mexico from South Korea, China, Spain, Israel, the Russian mafia, Columbia, Asia, and Guatemala. There is also evidence that many of the weapons used by Mexican drug dealers and gang members come from corrupt members of the Mexican military or deserters; the passage of gun control laws in the United States will certainly not prevent Mexicans from buying or stealing guns from their own government. On the other hand, beefing up border security will reduce the flow of guns from the United States into Mexico while at the same time reducing the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the country. The money saved by not providing hundreds of thousands of additional illegal immigrants with welfare, health, and education benefits would more than offset the cost of increased border security.
