Last week I was infuriated by the new epithet being hurled by the Left at people of whom they have no understanding. The term being used was Terrorist. Huh. Dissent used to be Patriotic, now it’s an act of terrorism? Last year it was Patriotic, now it’s Racist? Gotcha. Evidently I need to update my Newspeak Dictionary. We were also called shrieking and shrill. Sorry, we must’ve “inherited” that from the Eight years of the incessant vilifying of the “BusHitler regime”. I was so angry that I purposely chose to ignore it, I was certain I’d just get caught up in the “We aren’t Terrorists… You Are” childish games and I detest peeing contests – partly because I’m a girl and can’t aim, thus will always lose, yes – and because they serve no purpose. This isn’t about “winning” or “losing” some game to me. It’s about my Country, our Freedom and the future for my daughter. Additionally, I believe that the use of the terms “teabaggers, “Racist”, “Evil Monger” and “Terrorist” should all be covered under Godwin’s Law. As soon as you use one of those terms, you lose; as clearly you have no intention of honest discourse anyway. So Spaketh I, Thus It Is Now Written.

It turned out for the best, because the Joe Wilson “You Lie” moment happened and then the amazing 9/12 Rally in Washington D.C. and both occurrences are a sort of culmination of what I had wanted to express. All the usual attempts to demonize and isolate, the ad hominem attacks (taught to them by good old Alinsky) are no longer working. In fact, they are having the opposite effect.

The Left claimed they used the term “political Terrorist” because terrorism is all about intimidation, fear, and suppressing people. Obama apologists can’t see that what is happening now is the antithesis of that .. people are no longer afraid to speak out. People are no longer intimidated, fearful that they will be labeled Racists or Unamerican or Evil.

They understand that actual Terrorists strap bombs to their children and kill others in painful, horrific ways via nail bombs, and by flying planes into buildings, murdering thousands of innocent victims. Obamabots call this “man-made disasters.” Yet, they call people who are merely peacefully standing up for themselves, speaking out for what they believe in, Terrorists. Hey left, do you see nothing wrong with this? No, you don’t and that’s why I should thank you. I thanked you once before, but you’ve continued to inspire the involvement of people who have never been involved before, you’ve eradicated so much apathy, that I feel I must thank you further.

You see, because of you, “regular” people (you know, “the folks” you often pay lip service to without knowing a thing about) who have never before been politically engaged, are so now. It is why I believe that this is Our Moment (that’s right, I stole your catch-phrase. You know why? Because You Lie). This didn’t happen overnight, it didn’t happen only due to the use of such slurs, it was far longer in the making.

President Obama recently said that he wants those who “created the mess” to get out-of-the-way and be quiet. Because, Shut Up. Well, he seems to have forgotten that he was one of THOSE. It doesn’t even matter that, as a senator, he mostly voted Present (way to take a stand, by the way, Dude) and he was a key “mess creator.” Us? We were here, raising our families, working hard and trying to get by without being taxed to death. Therefore, you can all kindly zip it. It’s our turn now .. and it’s been building up for quite some time. It has come to a head now. We aren’t “Terrorists”. What we are is Fed-Up.

If the Summer of ’69 was the Summer of Love, the Summer of ’09 is the Summer of Enough.

It really started when Congress forgot that they work for us, not the other way around. It goes back quite a ways, but it entails policy wonk-y stuff and economics thingies and I’ll leave that for the experts (Math is hard). We began to take notice when you decided to use our money to bail out businesses, with bad models, that should have been allowed to fail. When we suck at something we don’t succeed … those whom don’t suck take our place. The World is funny like that. We also noticed that you wrung your hands and cried for people who had no business obtaining mortgages. Well, they got them, and then couldn’t pay for them. Meanwhile, realistic people rent because we understand that our salaries will not magically double as our ARM loan rates go up. Or we live in, you know, houses with only 1 1/2 baths. But, all that aside, I’ll just tell you what brought it all to a head. It was when candidate Obama sneeringly referring to fellow Americans as “bitter clingers,” dismissing them as ignorant dum-dums.

Then, you tried to embarrass us into submission when we started waking up and symbolically saying, “Hey, hold on a minute,” with our organized Tea Parties. You did this in your usual classy and mature way. You called us Teabaggers. When that childishness didn’t really stick you declared that we were Astroturfing, that we were shills for Insurance companies and special interest groups. Hmm, methinks thou doth “project” too much. Next came “old faithful, the cries that we are nothing but Angry Mobs, Racists, Brownshirts, UnAmerican, Evil Mongers … and alarmingly these cries were from alleged Leaders in Congress and from the DNC. And what was the President’s rebuke to the Leaders of his own party demagoguing American citizens? *Crickets*

All summer long, a summer which witnessed the passing of Senator Kennedy, we were subjected to more of your dementia. We were told “Hey, Mary Jo Kopechne may have thought it was “worth it” that she was murdered because look at all the awesome Liberal policies we got out of the deal!” We saw that an innocent woman’s LIFE meant nothing to you. All that mattered to you was power and the furthering of an ideological agenda. And we were disgusted. Next came revelations about the kind of unelected Czars (which we aren’t too keen on to begin with) that President Obama would appoint to run the shadow government. When Van Jones’ beliefs were brought out into the disinfectant of light we assumed they would be appropriately rejected. I would have sent him a pink slip simply saying “Dear Van: There’s a bus pulling up tomorrow. Kindly be laying down when it arrives. Hugs, Barry.” Instead, you, once again, showed that nothing matters to you except your utopian quest for some self-defined “greater good”. You seemed to say to us “Why all wee-weed up over a Truther Green Jobs Czar? I mean, at least he doesn’t peaceably assemble and redress grievances. Stop nit-picking! What’s a little racist, anti-semitic, cuckoo-pants trutherism? It’s not like he’s a birther!” To add insult to injury, you tried to blame us for outing Jones by labeling it a “smear” campaign. Yeah, that’s right. Yet another NewSpeak definition: Evil Radical extremist wingnuts intent on “smearing” people with video-taped evidence and signed documents. Guess what? Do you remember that whole “Judge a man by the company he keeps” deal? It’s not “just words.” And you failed. Epically.

Which leads us to Joe Wilson. Yeah, yeah, he may have chosen the wrong place and time to stand up and say “You Lie.” Or could it have been the perfect time? Even the Associated Press admitted that the speech was riddled with lies; When the Press calls out President Obama, it’s pretty clear his mom jeans pants are totally on fire. At least Joe Wilson wasn’t cowed, he stood up and spoke up for many. He spoke for all the people who have been sneered at, derided, called horrible names, besmirched, ridiculed, mocked, and condescended to. And you feign outrage, utterly shocked when someone finally breaks and is fed-up? That is exactly why Wilson’s “outburst” occurred. And it’s why he is not an “idiot” or a “jerk,” as many are claiming. That, in fact, is part of the problem; that whole dum-dum idiot characterization. You posture that you are Better Than Us, Smarter Than Us… don’t you see that as part of why people are so angry? They are tired of being looked down upon and sneered at.

Hence, the 9/12 rally. And, so far, what has been the reaction by the left? More marginalizing, more derision, haughty and petty comparisons to the Obama Inauguration. Remember, It’s Not the Size of the Rally, It’s the motion of the Movement. This was NOT a protest by professional ideologues. It wasn’t attended by some “fringe” element. It wasn’t astroturfed. You simply don’t get it… this wasn’t a convention of wing-nutty partisans who live to drum and dance on weekends. These were concerned people who’ve never had an interest in protests before. It was attended by Americans, Americans who were angry and tired, Americans who were saying No More, and Americans who were taught to respect The Press but saw them blatantly carrying the water for the Left, not only by covering-up stories that didn’t fit a certain narrative, but by outright propagandizing. These were Americans who don’t have the time to endlessly discuss policy points, they react. These were Americans with guts and spines, which have always, throughout history, achieved FAR more than fancy rhetoric. These were Americans who don’t ask for hand-outs, who don’t posture, but rather simply take action and do what needs to be done. These were charitable people who do charitable things resulting in far more good than big government’s failed programs. Their churches and their community centers press on despite the people who snicker at them for their beliefs. These were Americans who employ people, enriching them in ways the Government never could. These good people beat themselves up every time they are forced to lay someone off due to the incessant interference and constant screw-ups by the Government, the very same Government that is now smugly dismissing them, outright ridiculing and mocking them.

Sure, some of us may not have read Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations (though many of us have; we simply don’t feel the need to boast about it ceaselessly) but we don’t have to – We live it. There are those among the intelligentsia who sit around discussing the best way, which they only know in theory, to build a ditch. We are the ones who will quietly pick up the shovel and simply start digging. To us, Freedom isn’t a political talking point, it isn’t even political at all. It is simply a way of being and we embrace it every day, despite the best attempts by others to take it away.

These Americans are so heartening to me; it signals that the Left’s standard weaponry of identifying, isolating and demonizing is not working. Why? You can’t effectively keep using slurs against people who know who they truly are. You can’t “isolate and identify” someone when you have to include a million of his friends. It’s also because they don’t understand us at all. People are fed-up and not just for themselves. Go to town halls or tea parties and see a stay at home Mom with a toddler at her hip, or an elegant older gentleman, gussied up in suit and hat because that’s just what you do when attending a public event, and try not to get a lump in your throat and a resolve in your heart when you hear them being called racists, a mob, terrorists, etc. And it’s in that moment that you realize that you are not on the outside looking in. You are on the inside, in complete solidarity with them, looking out. Collectively we say, “Uh-uh.” We are good people who just want to live our lives as best as we can, who work hard to make the best lives for our families. We are tired of being insulted and sneered at and stepped on and of having our lives controlled by people who have zero interest in OUR actual well-being, who know nothing of our lives and sit in their Ivory Towers disdainfully looking down on their perceived lessers, talking folksily about “kitchen table issues” yet do nothing to actually help their kitchen tables be fruitful.

The slurs used to intimidate *can no longer intimidate*.

It has become abundantly clear to many average Americans that the Left’s disdain for us is almost palpable; they have no respect for, nor understanding of, We, The People.

We, The People … are no longer willing to be silent and blissfully apathetic, because Shut Up doesn’t work any more. You will heed our call.
