like I said it takes the wheels to come off the system for there to be any change. Once the government goes bankrupt because all the productive people have already been bled dry or have moved away... those on the dole will bite the hand that feeds them once that hand is empty.

... is the common mantra you will hear around here. People have no idea how liberalism roots itself and festers. I dont use the term cancer lightly, but it liberalism is a cancer. Twenty five years is a long time for it to spread and destroy.

There is no way you can compare the welfare state no in 1984 to now. There is no way you can compare the number of people reliant on government jobs and government contracts in 1984 to now. There no way you can compare the sense of patriotism, history and individualism in 1984 to now. The cultural rot of liberals teachers unions. multi-culturalism and collectivism has taken root.

Some wish to lie to themselves and are convinced if only proper conservatism is artculated to these people by a courageous leader, a lighbulb will go off. But they are wrong. People are giving up their free rides. People dont care about American history or the Constitution. They know who feeds them and they will not bite that hand. The GOV is their daddy.

Let's just say New York City is a microcosm of Obama's dream.

A large majority of the residents here are reliant on government subsidies, city programs, rent control, and subsidized transportation systems.

The people of NYC have been bought off a long time ago, and even the Republicans have to keep the entitlements coming or they have no chance of surviving.

No one is willing to take personal responsibility, and many feel as though they have an absolute right to continue living in the city and the government must provide for them at all costs.

The lower class is completely reliant on the government, the middle class is far and in between, and the upper class has been taught to feel guilty for being successful. The result is a far left leaning society that will only adjust after the wheels come off.

My fellow Manhattanites have their heads so far up their asses its amazing.

The fact is that most of the first responders and heavy construction workers who responded to the 9/11 attacks on lower Manhattan (and subsequently worked the recovery) were not even citizens of New York City. They were from the surrounding counties of NY and NJ.

It's pathetic that this city, which has been repeatedly attacked by Islamic terrorism and is still the number one target to this day, is the one that is most against the efforts taken to save it.

Some examples:
1990- Assassination of Meyer Kahane.
1993- First WTC bombing.
1993- Landmarks bombing plot.
1994- Brooklyn Bridge machine gun attack on Jewish students.
1997- Shootings on the Empire State building observation deck.
1997- Plot to bomb the the subway system in Brooklyn.
2001- Destruction of WTC.
2001- Anthrax letter mailings to media institutions.
2003- Plot to bomb the Brooklyn Bridge.
2004- Plot to bomb the Herald Square transit hub.
2006- Plot to bomb the WTC PATH train tubes.
2009- Plot to bomb synagogues.

One of these days I may have to emigrate to America...
