As for the central route/Iran, Russia has been busily coordinating oil policy with Iran, so I'm sure that even if Iran becomes an exporter again, they will not undercut Russia's gas control over Europe. This leaves the Iraqi route - and that is an invitation for Iran to step in and gain at least a veto over Iraq's trade. But at least, this pipeline creates a possible alternative to Russia - the question is whether the West (Europe and the U.S.) will have the <em>cojones</em> to stand up against Russia - or will Iraq gas be up for <s>negotiation</s> <s>bargaining chip</s> give away by the U.S. with Iran. I would hate the day we here were freezing to death because of our reliance on foreign oil.
