TallChE Tuesday, May 5th at 7:52PM EST (link)When you take the carbon out of sugar (Sucrose – molecular formula of sucrose is C12H22O11), you have H22O11 left over. That is 11 molecules of H2O (water). In summary, Domino wants to sell us water at the price of sugar.
err
Simplicio Tuesday, May 5th at 7:57PM EST (link)They mean, of course, that the sugar is planted/harvested/processed using carbon-neutral fuels, not that the sugar itself contains no carbon.
I THINK EVERYBODY ON THIS SITE KNOWS THAT
TallChE Tuesday, May 5th at 8:09PM EST (link)However, simple English grammar analysis would say that “Domino Sugar Certified CarbonFree” means that the product is free of carbon. I wouldn’t worry too much about it – those that voted for President Jimmy Carter Lite probably aren’t sharp enough to figure out that it is false advertising.
Now they are going to charge twice as much for the green bag!

Grapenuts contain no nuts, very few grapes...
Simplicio Tuesday, May 5th at 8:28PM EST (link)Simple English grammar analysis would lead one to believe GatorAid is made from alligators. Carbonfree has become a synonym for carbon neutral, it doesn’t make a ton of sense, but it’s hardly Domino’s fault. English makes a lot of words out of roots that are misleading.
GATORAID
TallChE Tuesday, May 5th at 8:36PM EST (link)by simple analysis means an aid to gators. Since it was originally developed at the University of Florida for use by football players to combat dehydration and fatigue from the heat and humidity during late Summer practices, it is an “aid.” With the University of Florida mastcot being the “Gator”, it really is a properly named product by simple English analysis. Don’t know about Grapenuts – I’m a FruitLoop fan. And they are little loops of ceral with a fruit taste.

Carbon is the very stuff of life for carbon lifeforms, and CO2 is the plant food their sugar cane needs to grow. Just too funny.
Serious question, how do we know the atmosphere has too much CO2 and not enough?
Serious answer
Simplicio Tuesday, May 5th at 8:08PM EST (link)It isn’t so much too little vs too much as it is to stop the current increase (and hence halt the associated warming). In a perfect world I suppose we’d go back to what it was before increases started (like 300ppm, I think), but that’s probably impossible, so we’re left just trying to halt the increase so it stays at its current, higher level.
Your Point Is Only Valid If....
rcov092 (Diary) Tuesday, May 5th at 8:23PM EST (link)you accept that the increases in CO2 have anything whatsoever to due with the warming that reversed itself in 1998. Sorry I will not even debate the threat from something that is not even occurring and especially until someone can tell me irrefutably what the “ideal” temperature is and what definitively is mans contribution to total CO2 emmissions.

It’s too bad really, what they could have done would claim that they are one of the greatest contributors to carbon sequestration on in the food industry.
Hey, maybe they replaced all the carbon with radiocarbon-14 so they can claim it will eventually remove itself from the carbon cycle on its own.

Carbon-Free Charcoal
Skanderbeg (Diary) Tuesday, May 5th at 11:12PM EST (link)Heh. Maybe some sort of nuclear reaction?
A few years back I had some screwball trying to tell me that that “GEET” device (which is ludicrous enough without the claim this goofball was adding to it) actually breaks down carbon into hydrogen – basically, a carbon-eliminating nuclear reaction, and it’s the energy from this reaction that gives you the improved mileage. I couldn’t get it through his skull (and didn’t persist for long since I don’t like to waste time that a) the amounts of energy involved in nuclear reactions are IMMENSE beyond normal comprehension, and b) the carbon-to-hydrogen nuclear reaction is ENDOTHERMIC not EXOTHERMIC (fusion of light elements is how you create energy). For fun, I later tried out a rough calculation of the input power you’d need to break the carbon coming out of your exhaust down to hydrogen – and came up with 2GW (the power of two or three full-sized nuclear plants). Oh, well.
Anyway, forget about carbon-free ethanol. Have a go at carbon-free charcoal – I think you can do it.
