If someone had told me these things a year ago, I would not have believed them.

* The CEO of GM is ordered to resign by the POTUS. He does so. (I don't care what a screwup GM's CEO was; since when does POTUS have this kind of authority?)

* NY plans to tax the heck out of anyone making $300K a year. Prediction: business flight from NYC and NY state.

* A court in Spain is considering charges against US officials over Gitmo. News flash: Spain has no jurisdiction.

* The SecTreas apparently wants unlimited power, and Congress, which has no Constitutional power to grant such power, is seriously thinking of doing so anyway.

* Obama goes on both Jay Leno and Meet The Press. Good grief; does he have any notion of presidential dignity?

I could go on and on, but I'm speechless over that much.

Oh, and the fact that Obama has reported summoned Dr Basso to the WH, because he is "disturbed" by Basso's patriotic YouTube videos. Amazing.

As in <a href="http://www.amaproracing.com/rr/" rel="nofollow">superbike </a>and <a href="http://www.motogp.com/" rel="nofollow">motoGP </a>racing, not motocross.

If you've got four wheels on your vehicle, it's two too many to go really fast.

About Europe, you may be right.

Of course, I'm deeply mistrustful of the Europress (as much as I am our own). When they say 'far right' they're as likely to mean 'fascist left' as they are to mean 'conservative right,' which means it's a completely useless phrase from them.

For crying out loud, merely standing up and saying about your own country "You know, our way is better than theirs, and we should preserve that," gets you branded far-right, fascist, and all sorts of silly stuff.

So I don't take at face value the report in your link. That said, the political environment *is* split differently in Europe from how it is here. The left sold the public Stalin's party line that 'fascists are right-wing reactionaries' and socialized the whole continent as a reaction to Hitler.

The result was a shattering of what is in our country the right-wing alliance. The Christians in that anti-fascist enthusiasm believed they could adopt economic socialism without compromising their other views, which alienated them from the Liberals, who in their anti-fascist enthusiasm rejected social order as a tool of evil. As a result, you get no coherent right wing, and the whole continent slides deep into socialism.

So by default, if strong pro-national sentiments crop up in Europe, you have to suspect it's just the same old fascist innovation on internationalist socialism.

But suspicion is not assumption. I won't assume anyone the socialist left calls 'far right' is one of us, but I won't assume that they're all little Hitlers, either.

Too long and too often just what I described about F1, not enough competition and the fastest car wins unless he wrecks, blows up, or screws up. 'Course, I think that is kind of a problem with the new car anyway; you get out front, if stay there, you win. The cars are just so much faster in clean air. I thought much of the purpose of the COT was to make them less aero sensitive.

I haven't found anyone to really root for in NASCAR since Dale Earnhardt was killed. Clean kids from CA and the MidWest just aren't my vision of NASCAR drivers. I liked it a lot better when the chrome horn was a legitimate driving tool.

you start with nationalism and as it progresses it turns into either fascism or socialism. Although these are prity much the same thing, so either way the minorities get squeezed out or just plain killed.

Last words of the article are instructive:

"There are growing fears that protests at the summit venue, the ExCeL centre in London’s Docklands could be marred by violence. Scotland Yard will be deploying specialist officers trained to use 50,000-volt Taser stun guns."
