I really don’t get it

I live in NY now and I hate to admit it but she is a Senator for life is she chose.

So Patterson will chose her replacement and I am willing to take a bet he either names Cuomo (he has thought of running for Senate) or he choses a minority

If this does happen NY will have 2 Senate Races in 2010 and sadly I see no GOP frontrunners. Rudy is damaged in city, Bloomberg is running for 3rd term as mayor.

I could just see Peter King going for it seeing NY is slated to lose 2 seats after redistricting and seeing NY only has 3 Republicans in Congress its between him, Lee, and McHugh who will get ousted unless all 3 are impacted.

On the one hand it is a pretty impressive political move to put her on ice like this since she’d be a four year headache for him in the Senate, on the other hand he is rewarding his one time rival who championed herself as “the candidate of hard working people, white people.” But that’s been conveniently forgotten, right?

Smart move on his part

1. She works for him

2. She won’t be seen everyday and not voting and you knew when she voted against him it would be headlines

3. He can fire her if things go bad on this front and many fear it will so who gets the bad press? She will.

I don’t understand why Hillary would want the job. As dld17 said, she could probably be Senator in perpetuity in NY. Why risk that for a job that is potentially very thankless? She did seem to be very influenced by the notion of “setting a precedent” for women, and this would do that in a big way, but is that worth potentially scuttling the rest of her political career? Best case, she is successful in the role for 8 years and runs for President in 2016 at the age of 68. Worst case, she is a total failure and can’t win election in NY Senate (or anywhere). Unless she sees it as 8 years of her last job before retirement?

World leaders would have to deal with another woman Sec. State for at least another 4 years……….a loud woman………….a REALLY loud, obnoxious, power-mad woman.

The possible comedy alone may be worth it.

Besides, what’s the worst she could do as Sec. State…. start a war ?

As a SCOTUS justice, she’d help destroy the country.

All kidding aside, she’s a boss-lady ; A-type personality ; Alpha Female ; The Head Honcho ; The Big Cheese.

She wouldn’t play second-fiddle to her own husband when he was in The Oval Office. Why would she do it for good ol’ Barry ?

He saw how McCain was a constant thorn in Bush’s side. He’s trying to prevent Hillary from doing the same to him. Plus it assures that she won’t run against him in ’12 if things don’t go so well.

But back when everyone was appalled that he hadn’t asked her to be VP I told them he was saving her to be SOS. In a way VP is less important than SOS I believe. She’ll be competent enough to handle it I think.

Atleast she is a grown-up on foreign affairs and she is very shrewd, I doubt we see any type of hoodwinked type deals with North Korea as has happened with the last two adminastrations. Plus it will be fun to see what happens in she disagrees with Barry on policy. I mean do you see her wanting to get a plane to go to Tehran to meet with Ahmidinejad? I wonder who will make more fracas when their good advice on a foreign policy matter is rejected, her or Biden.

As many of us pointed out during the campaign, Obama is nothing more than a two-bit Chicago pol. His contacts (outside of Rezko, Wright, et al.) are of the county supervisor variety–not the kind of people you want when staffing the Executive Branch. Worse yet, he made little if any effort to cultivate colleagues during his 15 months as a US Senator. So what, or who, does he bring to the party? Absolutely nothing.

Consequently, this President-elect has few if any associates with national stature and experience. I can’t imagine he likes presiding over “Clinton III”, but that’s how his administration is shaping up…nothing but a bunch of retreads. Voters can’t say they weren’t warned.

But not quite as scary as Palin being a breath away.
