On Hot Air there is a story about delaying screening in women for cervical cancer. I think they indicate this is from the New York Times.

It would be great if we could get large numbers of women in particular to call Guys get your sisters, mothers, daughters, significant others to express concerns.

If you google your Senator you should find a phone number for the local office and the DC office. As of 9:55 the circuits in DC are all busy, so I called the local office and got right through.

Sent e-mail to Schumer and Gillibrand…. imagine their loyalties are to the millions of illegals in the state. Never mind that the Governor has just declared publically that we are close to bankruptcy.

Phoning is a good idea…… these people are without shame. Havn’t been particularly good about taking part in elections beyond voting. This next election will be different for me…. I hope for many who see what is happening to this country.

Thanks for the diary and reprinting your message to Senator Webb. For expediency I copied, edited and dropped the edited version into my two Senators email. Unfortunately those two Senators happen to be Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow so the emails will fall on deaf ears as so many of my emails in the past have. Debbie especially since her bloated face is routinely on the dais behind Reid’s left or right shoulder when he makes his announcements concerning the Senates version of Health care.

Oh how the “mighty” will fall.

I just called Evan Bayh’s Fort Wayne, Indiana office and got to talk to one of his staffers. I said I was not asking, but as one of his “employers” demanding that he vote “no” on colture. I reminded the staffer that as one of Sen. Bayh’s consituents, he worked for me and if he wanted to to continue to keep his job he should listen to the people of Indiana and not Harry Reid. I also promised to work to defeat him–to the last dollar I could afford–if he voted for cloture. As I physician, I reminded the staffer how lousy this bill really is…hope I did some good.

On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.”

The section spends two pages defining which “states” would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”

I am told the section applies to exactly one state: Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill.

In other words, the bill spends two pages describing would could be written with a single world: Louisiana. (This may also help explain why the bill is long.)

Senator Harry Reid, who drafted the bill, cannot pass it without the support of Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu.

How much does it cost? According to the Congressional Budget Office: $100 million.

Brownback and Roberts offices in D.C., both assured me that they are “NO” votes.

Just talked to Hatch’s and Bennett’s office and was told both will be voting NO. Seems like a no-brainer for them but had to be sure.

I’m a little scared of phones, but I want to call my senators. If someone has a moment, can you tell me what to expect if I call the switchboard? Walk me through it.

Unfortunately, the bill before the Senate is not the kind of health reform I can support, and it is not the kind of health reform that the American people want. I oppose the bill, and I will work to see it does not become law.

there are protests lined up for 3 pm at each of Landrieu’s offices-even though that is not going to make a difference- ya’ll should check to see if the same kind of protests are going on in your states.

All of Landrieu’s offices are busy and voicemail boxes are full. Blanche Lincoln’s vm is full and all offices are busy.

A good long prayer might help as well!

Thanks for posting your letter, I used it as a basis for the letters I just sent to my Senators from Arkansas. I have been a nurse for almost 15 years and I can tell you that this “bill” is one of the most frightening things I have ever in countered in all my time in medicine.
